Mitkayue Oyasin Project

This webpage is the beginning of a new Project called "Mitakyue Oyasin Project". Working with a tribal community in Alaska, we will build large hydroponic geodesic dome greenhouses, alternative fuel sources such as wind, solar, etc... to grow vegetables year round. The whole complex will be connected by an underground tunnel system for the harsh winters. We will live the old ways, be self-sustaining, and live healthy. Join us with your ideas, suggestions, donations, help, or participation. By the way it means, "All My Relations". I am Metis, (Cherokee/German). I believe in the old traditional ways. Anyone for a fresh tomato, or perhaps a crispy bowl of fresh spinach?

GEODESIC DOMES

We have chosen Geodesic Domes for their structural strength, the ability to give greater space, in that multiple layers can be constructed, and personally, for their beauty and simplistic design.
The domes (two at the start) will be 60 foot domes, using a wonderful double walled polycarbonate material as a covering. The floor of the domes will be heated by heated water running through a pipe system. This water will be heated in large solar heated barrels. Some of these barrels will also contain the nutrient solution that will be furnished continually to the plants. Due to the fact that the material is very heat retentive, and even snow will slide right off, we can grow year round, numerous crops, and a wide variety of vegatables and herbs.

ALTERNATIVE POWER SOURCES

We will utilize wind turbines, solar panels, and battery systems for power most of the time. We will also have a diesel back-up generator for emergencies. The right designed system will provide all the power necessary year round for the whole of the community and the surplus can be sold to the local power companies. For heating boilers, and wood furnaces will be utilized.

PLANTS

We will grow the normal greenhouse crops of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, as well as Hubbard Squash, foot long green beans, spinach, and a diverse amount of Herbs, both culinary and medicinal. During the summer growing season, larger crops such as corn (Indian Corns), potatoes, maybe wheat, perhaps soybean, will be grown on the lands outside the domes. All things grown by this project will be strictly organic, with not even the slightest allowance of any chemicals, whatsoever.

WHY?

I am 50 years old, and now disabled by the Veterans Administration. My condition is degenerative Rhumatoid Arthritis. I am not sure how much long I will have the use of my hands. I would like to be able to get this project started for a tribal community in Alaska to show that it can be done in any remote area of Alaska. My wife and I want to spend our silver years with our Native brothers and sisters. The Creator has been good to us, and it is traditional for all Native Peoples to help each other in these trying times. Through my Veterans Bill, I can purchase the land and some structures, but will need funding for the rest.

OUTCOME

The outcome to the tribal community is great. They will have their own power source, making their community independent, and less costly to other Agencies furnishing power. They will be producing their own food year round. Enough surplus will be grown, to first help other tribal communities, and sell then to the local markets. It is my understanding varied and fresh produce is a valued and desired commodity in Alaska. It will give employment to all in the community as it is a project that benefits them, so it is a project that they will operate. The funding will allow us to give salaries to each member of the workforce during the start up years. When enough profit is made, then the tribal government, and committee made up of the tribal community will create a fund to pay their own payroll, every year after that.

WHAT WE NEED

I have been an organic grower all my life, living the old ways of Indigenous Peoples. I know absolutely nothing about grant proposals, cultivation (it's a process used to gain support from a grant foundation contact), or most of the funding means we will need.
A person well versed in grant writing who is willing to donate his/her time to this project will help in ways, only the Creator can properly bless that person for. We can also use companies and organizations that are skilled in geodesic domes, hydroponics, alternative power sources. We can also use donations, to help us with all the planning and dialogues with various companies, organizations, agencies, and tribal governments. Any suggestions, ideas, and words of encouragement are intimately welcomed. Finally a few folks who want to live in remote areas of Alaska, work in greenhouses, live off of produce, elk, buffalo, and love, and peace, are welcomed to join this endeavor.

FINALLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY

I give this whole project to the Creator. It's name means "All My Relations", and that is what this is all about. When will man finally learn, if we don't band together to solve the problems of our fellows, then we are all doomed to suffer the results of our indifference. Please sign the guestbook, call, write, e-mail, or come visit our humble abode and lets talk. Whether we get funding or not my wife and I are still moving to Alaska and buying land to start a farm. This project will make it more worthwhile. And remember this web site is designed by a dummy on a computer that seems to whistle at me, so it is constantly "under construction". Is there a web designer out there who cares? Mitakyue Oyasin.............

CURRENT NEWS:

We are preparing the proposals now for the funding sources. It is a very confusing system, but we won't give up. Hopefully, some kind soul will come along, with a brain for Web Design, and help us put something together better.

We have contacted a few large Vehicle Manufacturers about the possibility of donating a large, strong, and dependable truck to get us there, and be the work truck for the project. It will be harsh conditions, used more than an "ole mule" on homestead farm, and be depended on more than food for survival. Hopefully, there is a few major dealers out there just itching for a chance to prove out their line in almost the harshest conditions in the U. S. Any suggestions?

We have also contacted the fine people at Jayco, Inc. to see about the possibility of donating one of their outstanding 5th Wheel series travel trailers. We will need it to live in getting there, and live in extensively until all the structures are built. It will also be our temporary office for the whole project. Again what an opportunity for a RV Corporation to show theirs can be the most practical living quarters/office in under the harshest of conditons.

We are also contacting the local Tribal Governments, in the hopes to find just the right community that needs and is interested in such a project. You know this project will be the pilot project for all Tribal communities in every remote area of the Unites States, not just Alaska. We as the Rainbow People, can only be honored to work with other tribal relations on giving self-sustainability and self-reliance it's greatest test, and proof. It will also be in accord with Tribal Prophecies of these trying times. We honor all tribes, and pray for us all in the coming times, where food, medicines, and peace, will be the most important issue in all Tribal Cultures. We welcome all inquiries and help to make this a dream come true, and again for the four colors of man, to be the rainbow over Turtle Island showing Creator our desire to serve in Light.

Please provide us links to link up with, to get our page out to all, hopefully this can be a project for all mankind to become involved with. And send our web page to everyone.

New News (Oct. 18, 2004)

We have been contacted by a wonderful corporation called Daimler/Chrysler. It was in reply to a request to consider donating a vehicle to us. She said they could only donate such gift to a non-profit organization. We are at present processing the paperwork to become a non profit corporation. Anyone out there better at doing this kind of thing than I. I could sure use some help....

New (Oct. 19, 2004) We were sent an e-mail from Dr. Robert Ghostwolf with his blessings. For those of you who do not know of Dr. Robert Ghostwolf, please check out his Website. Just type in Dr. Robert Ghostwolf on your search engine. It is will worth your time to see the wonderful things Dr. Ghostwolf has accomplished in art, publishing, and leading folks together to become one people again. His insights are very deep, his vision, plainly from the heart and a committed connection to Creator. I am attempting to get his permission to link our sight to his now. It is an honor and blessing to have Dr. Robert Ghostwolf with us in planning the technology of the whole thing. Such a good soul is always a blessing to be around.
In another area of progress, we have finished our Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. We will submit them to the Secretary of State on Nov. 1, 2004. After that it is off to file the horrendous paperwork of becoming a non-profit corporation. Hopefully along the way help will come. We trust Creator and are sure of the success of our endeavors. Mitakyue Oyasin....David

NOTE: Please sign our guest book. It lets us know the right people care!!!!!!!

News News News Oct. 22, 2004

We are awaiting a call from Dr. Robert Ghostwolf. He has expressed an interest in our project and although he is a very busy man these days, (who isn't), he wishes to spread himself even thinner and help us with this project.

I woke up this morning though with something on my mind. You know folks, this project is not just about a pilot project to show that even remote tribal communities can become self-sufficient. It is not only about tribal communities, it is about the whole of mankind. I ask you what happens when the grocery stores have empty shelves, the butcher shops close, the farms go under because of crop failures, or the Earth Mother just stops nurturing the plants because we continually pump chemicals into her skin. Can you eat your clothes, your car, or even the money in your bank. Look in every holy book and you see references to nomadic peoples, indigenous peoples who stayed awhile in a place, lived, ate, hunted, grew food and children, yet when it was time they moved on giving that patch of Earth a chance to renew. We don't do that anymore. Families don't depend upon themselves, they depend on HEB's, Safeway's, local markets. And what they are eating is all the chemicals the farmers have pumped into the Earth to grow vegetables that have no nutrition. Cities are becoming jungles of steel, wire, and exhaust fumes. Crime is rampant because the one thing we all seek seems to elude us, PEACE. We think War will gain Peace. We think we are better, our beliefs, our religions, our politics are always better than others. In doing so we constantly seperate ourselves from the very life of our beings, each other. And when you seperate yourself from each other, you seperate yourself from Creator. In turn you seperate yourself from yourself. It has become a world of dual peoples. Szhophrenics, (probably misspelled) is common.
Well that is what "Mitakyue Oyasin" is all about. All my relations. All of us must start connecting with each other again. All of us must connect with Creator again. All of us must start building small communities of self sufficiency. Small communities that grow their own, provide their own, and live again in the "Peace".
Where are all the people who keep saying we need to do something.
Where here is where you can put your money where your mouth is. Your time, your ideas, your money, your talents. Share, one community at a time. Let us band together folks for once. Let us for once stop thinking of me me me me and start thinking of the whole of Humanity, one community at a time. This project is as much about those who put it together than it is about the community they put together. It does not even matter if you can pronounce Mitakyue Oyasin, just feel it, act it, live it. Help us folks. This is our future we are talking about here, all of our futures. This is our legacy we leave our children. This is our honoring the Father and Mother of us all.
This is us being there for each other, "All my Relations". We send our love, our hope, and our trust, in my relations, blood is thicker than water, my kinfolks have always come through, just as Creator has always come through. So, come on kinfolks, help us put our kinfolks back together, one community at a time. Mitakyue Oyasin... David

I will open a bank account today at a bank here in Austin, Texas for this project. Until I get an official account number, and we become officially Incorporated, I ask you to send whatever you can to this address and on my honor it will go directly into the account. I only get a pension check everymonth. Money goes into the project, food is bought for the critters that seem to hang around us then we get a little food for ourselves. By the grace and heart of a Good family we are living here rent free. So please include the family in your prayers. But surely a little change you can spare, a few ideas, a few talents. It is said it is dangerous to put your identity on the net. That is the fear that has ruled the masses for hundreds of years. I will not succumb to that fear. Below is our address:

David and Joy Howze
Mitakyue Oyasin Project
1803 Keilbar Lane
Austin, Texas 78745
(512) 444-4872

If you call and the line is busy, we are probably on the net. Limited funds forces us to use the same line for the phone and the computer. So just send us an e-mail that you are trying to call and we'll get the message and get off the net, so you can call. We could use, talents, designers, grant writers, tech., support, an extra stamp, a word of encourgement, even criticism is welcome. We must join as mankind to create the right communities one community at a time. Today it may be one in Alaska, tommorrow, New Mexico, then maybe Montanna, or Tennessee. Does it matter? What matters is we start somewhere and begin the journey back as one. I am committed to mankind, not just this project, but to my relations.....David
