mission ezekiel encounter 1 gilgal

Ezekiel is lifted out of the dust.

2:2+ As in modern Encounters, he is given a mission [E59 2:3- for the
house/son of Israel] then he is asked to:

2:8- 10 ... Open your mouth and eat what I give you. Then I saw a hand
stretched out to me holding a scroll.

He unrolled it before me, and it was written all over on both sides with
dirges and laments and words of woe.

A robotic hand [Ezekiel says it is a hand] stretches out holding a
scroll.

The form [not the hand], which must now be near Ezekiel, unrolls it.

This scroll is the equivalent of apocalyptic screenings shown in modern
encounters.

3:3 Then he said, 'Son of man [E71= born of dust], swallow this scroll I
give you, and fill yourself full.'

So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey.

3:12/13 Then a/- spirit/wind lifted me up, and I heard behind me

a fierce rushing sound/great noise/ sound of a great earthquake as the
glory of Yahweh [arose] from his/its place.

I heard the sound of the living creatures' wings brushing against one
another,

the sound of the wheels beside them/together with them, and a fierce
rushing sound/great noise.

Now he is either:

[1] lifted up by an invisible force[BR39 doesn't equate it with
propeller power] facing away from the craft
having, by tradition, turned away when he originally fell or: -
[2] actually lifted up into the capsule.

Whichever, and amazingly, he is able to deduce what is going on behind
him by the sounds heard.

The craft acts fully as if part of our material dimension.

[A71]- 'The great rumbling noise emanated from 2 sources that the
prophet could identify even without seeing them[they were behind him];

it consisted of {i}the din of the creatures' wings , with which he was
familiar from the incoming flight of the vehicle

and {2} the rumble of the [turning] wheels as they run along the ground
a bit at take-off and maybe even revolve in the air.

3:14/15 But/A/- spirit/wind lifted me up and carried me along/took me
away,

and I went full of exaltation/lifted up in the air[bitter] and greatly
moved in spirit,

the hand of Yahweh/ the Lord [being] strong upon me.

So I came to the exiles at Tel- abib who were settled by the river Kebar
{[E61]=awkwardly attached phrase}

For 7 days I stayed with them, dumbfounded/ sat there overwhelmed among
them.

He is taken up to higher ground, to the esoteric site of Tel Abib

[name means a mound covering something anciently important or, if
Hebrew, =hill of ears of corn E67]]
either:
[1] in a sort of shamanistic flight, the 'hand of the Lord' again being
strong upon him.
A70 Ezekiel is more actively, physically involved than in
8:3,11:1&24,43:5
where the ' wind' simply 'brings him' in what could be seen as purely a
visionary experience. or:

[2] in a capsule/ by a backpack, the hand of the Lord being some sort of
'g' force[B43, Br13 see 8:3, 11:1,24, 43:5] He makes his way to the
Exiles [word is a pun on 'Gilgal'].

Overcome by shock, he takes a week to recover.

In later encounters this shock gives way to a more cool & objective
position.

Notice that as in modern encounters:

[1] 'prophetic' information is not [allowed to be] taken away in a
concrete form [2] something with a significant taste enters the body
[semi-voluntarily in this case] [3] whatever is ingested enhances
communication at a distance and has a strong psychological effect.
