Being a mother can be hard, and at times we would like to have somewhere to go to realize we aren't the only ones going through it. Stop a while and see what is going on!

A Mother's Pain

Everyone asks if Labor pains are really that bad?

Only a mother could answer this!

"They are only the beginning of the pain" she might say

Because this pain seems to go away!

It is the pain that comes after birth,

That seems to keep a mom on earth.

The pain a mom knows comes from a lot,

It starts when they are just little tots.

The first "I hate you" Cuts like a knife!

And it won't be the first one they say in their life!

But what comes later is what gets mom the worst,

Like the pain of your child when they get hurt.

Even telling them NO can cause you great pain,

They don't realize mom knows more than they!

Her first breakup with a boy,

And she quotes "You just don't Understand"

What does she think, that mom is a man?

The ever knowing teen in an unknown world!

Now it is not your NO that gets in the way,

It's the one they continue to say!

We go from spilled milk,

To break ups with boys,

On to bigger pains of joy!

Yes all of these pains mean our children are growing,

And the hurt gets bigger without them knowing!

They stepped on our toes,

Now they step on our hearts,

They pull on the strings,

Then push us apart!

So you see, it is not the labor pains that are bad,

But the pains of life that can be so sad!

But any true mother knows these pains are good,

As it means are children are growing,

And becoming whom they should!

So don't ask if it hurts to have a baby,

But pray for the mother,

As her pains are just beginning!!

I have three children: Sulea who will be turning 14 in May, John who will be 11 in May, and Sara who just turned 8 in April. They are all wonderful kids, but I am just realizing what being a mother really means. Just getting the kids to help me clean the house is a chore, and asking them to do something for me is a joke. At least when they were little they listened to me, now it is all a fight to get done what I would at least like them to do. Now and them I try to make them think it is there idea, this tends to help them accomplish tasks.

About Me: I am 32 years old, and started having children at the age of 18. Personally I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as it does mean you grow up very fast. I am not only the mother of three kids, but I work with 8 teenage boys for a job. Yes I am working the overtime when it comes to being a mother. I am a Youth Worker with a non-profit agency and put my 40 hours in a four day period. I am learning a lot more now about being a parent then when my children where little. That was an easy job compared to what I am going through now. Running one to school for a concert, and one to a friends, then the other is mad because they don't have anywhere to go. It is a challenge to be a mother, that is for sure. I live in Iowa and my husband works for the city as a sanitation engineer--yes that would be a garbage man. My children visit their dad every other weekend if he is in the mood to see them or his van has gas. This situation in itself brings a lot of problems into our lives. My husband says the hardest part for him is being the step-parent. In the kids eyes he can do anything. More added pressure. It seems the whole family thing is definately a daily challeng.
