Show Details
This was the first US show in the Autumn tour. Support for this tour was provided by Joe Satriani and Thin Lizzy.
Silver Tongue opens and Gillan makes a mess of the first verse. As usual this song grooves along nicely with a nice punchy solo from Morse. Very powerful Woman From Tokyo follows.
Gillan then introduces I've Got Your Number as "all about our drummer...who gives good bass drum". Strange Kind Of Woman "she was delicious is all I can say".
Bananas follows with its usual time signature intro from Gillan and a great performance from the band. Up next,Knockin' at Your Back Door "even now...will bring a tear to your eye".
Contact Lost and Steves solo are segued into The Well Dressed Guitar. Dons solo prior to Perfect Strangers contains snippets of the Simpsons theme classical bits & bobs and the usual Star Wars extravaganza. Perfects Strangers itself is met with rapturous applause from the audience and is powerfully performed. A jam prequels the intro to Highway Star which runs straight into Space Truckin'. Smoke finishes the set without any of the usual jamming or riffing prior to the start of the song.
Encores of Speed King and Hush finish the show. Short sharp and very to the point. Good show.
