THE MAIN CHARACTERS
There are quite a few characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh show, some that make more of an impression than others, here is a list of the main characters and a little bit about them:
Yugi:
Yami Yugi, along with his counterpart Yugi Moto, are the stars of the show. However, Yami Yugi is actually a spirit that sometimes takes oer Yugi's body. Yami Yugi is taller, smarter, stronger, and more confident in his abilities than the younger Yugi Moto. They possess the Millenium Puzzle. When his grandfather gave him his very first deck, he began his journey to become a great duelist!
Maximillion Pegasus
Pegasus, named after the winged Greek horse, now plays the other side. Pegasus is the "bad" guy of the show, and does everything he can to make people do what he wants, from insults to stealing their family's souls. Pegasus is the richest man in the world at this time, and is credited for creating the Duel Monsters game. He posseses the Millenium eye.
Seto Kaiba
Kaiba is sort of Yugi's rival. After defeating Kaiba in a duel, Yami Yugi sent the evil side of Kaiba to the Shadow Realm, freeing his mind. Kaiba is considered one of the top duelists of the world, and owns the only three super-rare Blue-Eyes White Dragons!
Téa Gardener
Yugi and Joey found Téa working in a restaurant, even though she was underage. After a short fight when Joey and Yami Yugi fought for Téa, they became friends, and have been friends ever since.
A Note: It is said that in the Japanese version, Téa is Yugi's girlfriend.
Bakura
Bakura was one of Yugi's schoolmates. He once was taken over by a spirit from his Millenium Ring, and Yami Bakura fought Yami Yugi for his Millenium item. In the end, Evil Bakura was destroyed by the Reaper of the Cards.
Note: For some reason, Yami Bakura reappears again during the Final rounds at Duelist Kingdom.
Solomon Moto (Yugi's Grandfather)
This is Solomon Moto. He was Joey's teacher in Duel Monsters until his soul was captured by Pegasus. Yugi's Grandfather owns his own shop and knows more about Duel Monsters thatn anyone else in town. He was once the owner of the fourth Blue-Eyes White Dragon, but that was before Kaiba ripped it up. Congrats to Yugi! He just freed his grandpa's soul!
Mai Valentine
Mai is another duelist in Duelist Kingdom. She duels only for herself, and wants the prize money to buy cars, perfumes, clothes... She once was using a phychic act to fool everyone, but Joey read through it and the secret was exposed. Her prime monster is the Harpy Lady.
Joey Wheeler
Joey is Yugi's best friend and a fellow duelist. He has one sister, Serenity, and is dueling to save his sister's eyesight. His favorite card is the Flame Swordsman, but his strongest is the Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
Tristan Taylor
Tristan is one of Joey's best friends. He duels too, but did not compete in the Duelist Kingdom. His favorite card is the Cyber Commander. He has provided support for Yugi and Joey in many of their duels, both morally and by providing cards.
