Defense of Ron Wyatt

This site provides an answer to the vociferous critics of Ron Wyatt, who have challenged his contention regarding the discoveries of Noah’s Ark, Sodom & Gomorrah, Mt Sinai, and the Ark of the Covenant.

Critics of Ron Wyatt have been voicing their opposition through websites and other media. In 1977 Ron Wyatt visited a site in Turkey that he believes to be that of Noah's Ark. Various critics have proffered false and misleading information about Ron Wyatt, including the ideas that there is no pattern of iron in the site, that no radar scans have proven a rib-like structure to the formation and other false claims. There is in fact a pattern of iron that is discernable through metal detectors, and there have been radar scans made upon the formation that prove the object to be man-made. It is the goal of this website to expose the truth to the public. Below are some questions that relate to the criticisms that have been tossed about, and each is dismantled one at a time. Readers are directed to check out all of the links and view the 1985-6 Field Studies video of Noah's Ark. Therein you'll find the answers to some of the probing questions regarding Noah's Ark.

ARE THERE SIMILAR BOAT SHAPED OBJECTS NEARBY?

Answer:

In the early eighties I rejected the Durupinar site as being that of Noah’s Ark. In the Ararat Report (May-June 1988), we read about similar boat shaped objects that are supposedly to be found by little Ararat. This is the argument that supposedly sealed the deal. I thought this was a strong argument, however, I have rejected it for several reasons.

1. The boat shaped objects in the picture displayed on page 7 of the ARARAT REPORT are taken at an angle. The Durupinar site picture, the one that appeared in LIFE magazine, however, was taken from directly above perpendicular to the site. Because this picture in the ARARAT REPORT was taken at an angle, there is no way possible that these visually boat shaped objects are actually boatshaped. In fact, it would be impossible for these to be boat shaped. In proof of this, if you look at the boat shaped Durupinar site, you’d notice that from an angle, as one views it from the visitor's center, it loses it’s perfect eye shape. It tapers on one side, because of perspective. Any artist who has drawn perspective understands this. There is foreshortening and other distortions that come with viewing something at an angle. If an object does look like a boat from an angle, then the side of this “boat shape” that is furthest away is actually more rounded and oblong then it appears to be. The fact that it appears to be shaped much like an eye is an illusion caused by angle and foreshortening. In order to get a true idea of what these boat-shapes really look like, you need to get a picture that was taken perpendicular to the shapes in question. But I guarantee you, that these shapes are in no way actually boat-shaped given the angle.

2. Additionally, there are no such supposed boat shapes in the surrounding area, that have timber like projects, have a pattern of iron, and other unusual specific patterns that we’d expect from a boat.

Online there are several sites that challenge the findings of Ron Wyatt. Amongst these are Tentmaker.com, a website dedicated toward promoting universalism, the idea that every human being alive will be saved, even Hitler, and Answers in Genesis. The latter group, AIG, actually promotes ideas that the webmaster agrees with. However, AIG has relied on information provided to them by those who are 1, mistaken, 2. put too much emphasis in opinion rather than on fact.

TWO EYEWITNESSES

According to Biblical justice, a man must given a fair trial based on the testimony of two eyewitnesses. These two eyewitnesses need to be cross examined and their testimonies need to be checked out.

“One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

“No Pattern of Iron on site” claim refuted

Tentmaker publishes the following statement written by Dr. John Morris of ICR

“Advocates of the site claim to have found linear bands of metallic material representing "beams" in the Ark. These were discovered using a technique commonly known as "dowsing," complete with brass rods held in one's hand, which dip downward or cross in the presence of the desired metal, or so it is claimed. (This is similar to "witching" for water using a forked stick, a practice almost universally condemned by evangelicals. There are no known principles of physics by which it operates.) According to Dr. John Baumgardner, creationist geophysicist and formerly an advocate of the site, the anomalies discerned by this technique were not confirmed by use of a metal detector, which operates on known principles of physics.”

In refutation to this statement we offer a video tape that depicts Dr. John Baumgardner using a METAL DETECTOR and finding a pattern of iron. For a copy of this video read below.

Additionally, scholar Dr. William Shea has written:

“This type of equipment [subsurface radar, metal detectors, etc.] tends to show a subsurface pattern in a crisscross direction--long lines along the length of the formation, and cross lines across them. If these lines detected beneath the surface do have something to do with the ark then they might represent the petrified timbers of the hull of the vessel. “
