Did Wyatt solicit $10,000?
Did Ron Wyatt solicit $10,000 from 3ABN promising an immediate on-the-spot view of the Ark of the Covenant?
According to Russel R. and Colin D. Standish, the authors of “Holy Relics or Revelation,” a supposed expose on Ron Wyatt, Danny Shelton, the President of 3ABN said , “Wyatt’s agreement was based upon a request for $10,000 for equipment. “
Subsequently, the Standishes wrote that 3ABN met up with Wyatt in Jerusalem and was disappointed in not being able to video the Ark of the Covenant.
However, the truth be told, Wyatt never solicted any money, Harold Follett, the attorney for 3ABN offered to give the money to Wyatt, even to the point of badgering. Wyatt said that he could not use it for the Ark of the Covenant excavation, but he could use it elsewhere. Additionally, Wyatt tried to discourage the crew from appearing because the high visibility of the crew may stir some violence in the locality.
Transcript from phone discussion of Harold Follett and Ron Wyatt.
Follett: “...I think it’s going to be to your advantage as well as the work of the Lord.”
Wyatt “...Yeah. Like I told you and Danny both, before, we got to discussing this, I plan to allow 3ABN to, shall we say, broadcast this material regardless of whether we did any, you know, $10,000 or any of that. Uh...whether that...I intend to make this stuff available to them for use, but at this moment in time....I’m going to...till everything is still in place. You know, I’ve got a permit to do it, but these people can rescend it. And I would assume that there are several areas that they wouldn’’t allow us go into when we were over there last. Because it would be an embarrassment to have an American tourist killed....
The tape continues on and on, and it becomes very telling.
Evidently, Wyatt never requested any money, but offered to allow the 3ABN crew the chance to video the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant without charge, and, Wyatt in so many words, told Follett that it wasn’t the proper timing for unveiling the Ark of the Covenant. But Follett badgered and badgered and never gave up.
The Standish brothers, evidently have never heard the tape, and neither have any of the critics of Ron Wyatt. But unlike an armchair researcher, you can take part in serious scholarship by writing for a copy of this tape.
