Currently, the cost for one year in a nursing home averages $45,000.
These costs are expected to triple in the next 20 years according to the Government
Accounting Office.
The risk of needing care at some point in your life is greater than 50%.
80% of long-term care services are not received in a nursing home, but at home,
in an assisted living facility, or in an adult day care center.
40% of people needing long-term care services are working age adults aged 18-64.
Medicare pays for short-term rehabilitation nursing care for up to 100 days in a nursing
home, not for long-term care services.
Medicaid pays for care in a nursing home when the patient has no other financial resources.
In Tennessee, Medicaid does not pay for care received in assisted living facilities.
American women areprojected to spend more time caring for aging family members than their children.
