A word on cemeteries. Many people ask if cemeteries are haunted. To answer that question, VERY FEW are. The fact of the matter is, that most of these people passed on peacefully, therefore, they are resting in peace. A haunting most commonly occurs when someone dies tragically (murder, suicide, etc.), so there is no reason for their spirit not to rest when they go peacefully. If someone dies peacefully and the spirit lives on, why would it remain at the cemetery? The spirit will likely return to some place they were attached to in life, most generally, home.
Also, hauntings generally occur because the deceased person may not realize that he/she is dead. Even so, the spirit may return to say goodbye to a family member or loved one because they never had a chance to do so in life, or maybe even to re-assure that family member that he/she is in a better place now and to continue on with his/her life.
To cover residential hauntings, the most common reasons for homes to be the center of paranormal activity are that someone was murdered in the home, the former owners (who have since passed on) are so attached to the home that they can't bear to leave, or even renovations. (Reports state that the Lizzy Borden House wasn't haunted until renovations were done in 1995, today it is one of the most haunted houses in America).
I believe that the most active hauntings occur in old prisons. If you consider all the tragedies and murders that occur in prisons, that alone would open the door for paranormal activity. Same goes for battlefields. Many lives were lost during past battles, and many of the spirits still live out those battles to this day. One of the most active being Gettysburg.
A little note to curiousity seekers: ALWAYS get permission from the owners before going into locations rumored to be haunted. Otherwise, it is TRESSPASSING. NEVER go into a cemetery after dark (many reasons why). And ALWAYS RESPECT THE DEAD.

Our main goal in conducting investigations is to make every attempt possible to re-create activity. (If it can be duplicated, it's not happening). We will also take photographs and gather audio and video footage. We then use this evidence in a means of gathering hard evidence of a haunting.
