BOBBY MENEAR'S MAESTROS OF SWING
Who Are "Bobby Menear's Maestros of Swing?"....
For an evening of exciting entertainment, you can't go wrong with "Bobby Menear's Maestros of Swing."
The band is continuing the Big Band tradition in the Morgantown area. Many of the members are also members of the "BBB ~ The Band Director's Big Band," led by the late great Dusty Rhodes. Til his passing, Dusty led the group of professional musicians and area band directors in entertaining at functions in the tri-state area. Now, Bobby Menear, who himself enjoyed being in the BBB with Dusty, has picked up the torch and is carrying on the musical tradition, with a little bit of the old and the newer for today's audiences. Music has been both his life and his passion. Currently a leading free-lance trumpet player in several Pittsburgh area bands, he is also a retired high school band director. He is also staff arranger, lead trumpet player, and Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Concert and Stage components of the 249th Army Band of the WV Army National Guard, stationed in Morgantown, WV. Bobby is both a Baby Boomer and a direct descendant of the Big Band legendary pioneer Glenn Miller, and loves the music of his heritage. He has performed for U.S. Presidents and dignitaries. While a former member of the NATO Naval Show Band, his musical travels have taken him from New York City to Naples, Italy. While the list of celebrities he has accompanied onstage range from Barbra Streisand, The Coasters, Johnny Mathis to The Temptations, and many other well-known acts, his heart is devoted to the Big Band Sound.
Each member of the Maestros has a diverse musical background in all styles of music.
