My 'MacDONALD' Family
Web-page created on 10 May 2001. Updated on 18 MAY 2008.
I have traced my "MacDONALD" family relatives back as far as I could go. This is the information that I have been able to find regarding my "MacDONALD" family background.
My paternal-paternal g-Grandfather:
(1)Thomas William MacDONALD.
b: 9 September 1835, at Ireland.
m: about 1883, at Antrim, County Antrim, N.Ireland.
d: & Buried: 1927, at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., N.Y.
Sp: Katheryn Brezelle (or Brazell).
b: (date unknown), at County Cork, Ireland.
(she was the daughter of a French tax-collector)
d: & Buried: 1925, at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., N.Y.
Their children:
(2a)Kathryne b: possibly 1886. (died young).
(2b)Joseph b: possibly 1888. (died young).
(I have no other information for either of these children).
(2c)Ann Catherine. (my paternal Grandmother).
b: 26 May 1889, at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., N.Y.
d: 25 February 1956, at Rochester, Monroe Co., N.Y.
Buried: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, NW26-Tier 5-S.G.#94.
2461 Lake Ave., Rochester, Monroe Co., N.Y.
#1 m: 21 May 1910, at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., N.Y.
#1 Sp: Michael A. DONOVAN (my paternal Grandfather).
b: 2 Oct 1892, at Wysox, Bradford Co., Pa.
d: 16 Sept. 1965, at Buffalo, Erie Co., N.Y.
Buried: White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery.
3210 Niagara Falls Blvd.
Amhurst, Erie Co., N.Y.
During her marriage to Michael DONOVAN, they lived at Wysox, Pa. Their only child was a son, James Thomas DONOVAN, born 27 August 1911, at Wysox. (He died 26 March 2000, at Punta Gorda, Sarasota Co., Fla). The marriage did not fare well, and they were divorced in 1913. Ann Catherine returned to Syracuse, N.Y. Little is known of her after that, up until the time that she married for a second time.
#2 m: possibly 1923, at Rawleigh, N.C.
#2 Sp: Clinton Leland FLOYD.
b: 1877-78, at Kentucky. (father & mother both born at Ky.).
d: about 1931, at Hartford, Ct.
I know nothing about this person, other than that he was a horse trainer, for the trotters that pull the "sulkies." He and Ann had no children. Clinton L. Floyd (52 yrs.) appears in the 1930 Census, at Hartford, Ct., with wife Ann C. (35 yrs.)(father born in Ireland & mother born in France), and step-son James T. DONOVAN (18 yrs.)(born in Pa.).
After "Clinton L. FLOYD" died, Ann Catherine FLOYD (along with her only child, James Thomas DONOVAN) remained at Hartford, Ct. Then, about 1932, she relocated to Norfolk, Litchfield Co., Ct., and her son, James T. DONOVAN, moved to Buffalo, N.Y. Ann managed the "Norfolk Inn," at Norfolk, Ct., for several years. About 1942, she relocated to Rochester, Monroe Co., N.Y., where she died. She was buried by the parish of St. Ann's Catholic Church, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. As a child, Ann Catherine was raised at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., N.Y. I do not know anything about her upbringing.
(2d)Katherine (Aunt Kate). b: 1891, at Syracuse, N.Y.
Sp: Charles WALSH. (Uncle Charlie).
(last known location for both of them was Amarillo, N.W. Texas)
(2e)William (Uncle Bill). b: 1893, at Syracuse, N.Y.
Uncle Bill served with the Syracuse Police Dept., and with their Detective Bureau. In about 1954, he married a female from Raleigh, N.C., at Rawleigh. He was killed there, in an auto accident, in 1955. He is buried at Raleigh, N.C. I was there for the funeral, and the reception afterwards.
That concludes my presentation of my "MacDONALD" family relatives. See the additional web-pages listed below for my other family relatives.
