The humidty of the climate in these coutries is ideal for the maturation of the tabacco leaves, the Relative Humidity is high (70 to 80%) and allmost constant.
The tabacco matures in the atmosphere before the cigars are manufactured and sent around the world. From then on, the cigars undergo harsh temperature and humidity variations. They can only complete their maturation once at rest in the controlled environment of the tobaconists'. Cigars need their original humid atmosphere to achieve maturation and deliver then when smoked their aroma at its best.
It is therefore necessary to recreate the humid climate of the production area when storing the cigars at home or at the office.
