STRESS RELIEF
We must agree that there is not much you can do to stop life throwing stressful events at you. what you can do is choose how to deal with those stresses. Here are just a few examples of what you can do to help.
SETTING GOALS
Give yourself time to sit down, alone and quiet and write down, what are your goals? many people under acute stress find it hard enough to get through the next hour, let alone the next month, so break your goals into manageable chunks. Have goals for Today, This week, This month.
BEING ASSERTIVE
The first step on the road to assertivness is oa expression of your personal rights. You need to accept that you have as much right as anyone else to certain things.
LEARNING TO RELAX
Relaxation ia a powerful medicine. It speeds recovery from all kinds of illnesses and, better still can prevent them in the first place.
MASSAGE
Massage is one of the oldest forms of healing. Its long been used to break down muscle spasm, improve circulation and help wounds heal.
AROMATHERAPY
We dont use our senses of smell much in the modern world-maybe thats why it can have such a strong effect. Yet aromatic oils have been used in healing for thousands of years. These days aromatherapists generally use essential oils as part of a healing massage.
REFLEXOLOGY
The idea behind reflexology is that the whole body is represented in the foot, so pressing a certain part of the sole has an effect on the corresponding part of the body.
EXERCISE
Any exercise that speeds up your heartbeat, increases the brain's output of endorphins, which give a natural high.
EAT TO STAY ON TOP
Under stress, eating well is more important than ever. Vegetables, wholemeal bread, beans, dairy products and eggs, for example, provide plentiful B vitamins to build strong nerves. Stress also wears down the immune system, which is why we fall ill at difficult time, all the more reason to eat healthy food that boost's our defences.
