Lindy & Delaine' s RV Travels & Living at The View
PLEASE LEAVE US A MESSAGE IN OUR GUESTBOOK & Go TO OUR GALLERY
(10-14-11)I've neglected our website since we are on facebook and I post pictures there. We spent July & Aug. in CO and NM and had the summer of our lives with Michael Martin Murphey, his wife Karen and their daughters and friends. We are now on our way to Sebring FL for the winter. I've posted 2 new gallery albums 2011 Summer to Remember with the Murphey's Part 1 & 2.
(6-11-11)Just returned from the International Suites Rally at River Plantation RV Park in Sevierville, TN. 102 Select, Mobile, and Elite Suites filled the large park with 442 sites. It was a week of good friends, good food, good times and good memories. (5-10-11)We left Sebring FL earlier than planned because Lindy began having mild discomfort between and under shoulder blades. He'd had some gastric reflux but we didn't want to take chances and he didn't want to go to the doctor there. Even though he had passed a stress test in Sept 2010, he had 2-95% blockages in the "widow maker" artery. Doctors said his symptoms were mild due to a healthy heart muscle from regular exercise. He didn't have any heart damage. He has significant family history of early heart disease. So without his exercising, he would have probably been dead ten years ago. He had 1 bypass March 3rd and is doing well now. We made our first RV trip since his surgery this past week. We feel so blessed to have celebrated our 6th anniversary yesterday. Life is Good!
(1-8-11)Much has happened since my last post. We left Gulf Shores after 3 weeks because our beloved dog Montana was having seizures and medications were being adjusted and another added. Sadly the seizures became worse and we laid him to rest Dec. 21. We miss him more than words can say and I still tear up just writing about it. We arrived in Sebring FL at Highland Wheels Estates RV Park Dec. 29th after spending several nights in Clarksville to celebrate Christmas with the kids and grandkids. The park is an older one but well kept park. The people are friendly and we love our site. The weather is fantastic for walking and biking. We can ride to the YMCA on our bikes. The town is a nice size and on Lake Jackson.
(11-7-10)Arrived at Island Retreat in Gulf Shores, AL on the 3rd. Lindy says we are the only people who have to go north to go south. We spent 3 nights in Clarksville and left from there. Grandma had to see the kids in costume and Mikayla's first basketball game. Got lots of hugs and kisses that will have to last until Christmas. We have a great site at a great price with concrete pads and patio.
(10-26-10)Lindy spent a month getting the View property back into shape. Now getting ready to leave for Island Retreat in Gulf Shores from Clarksville after a visit with the kids. Have enjoyed time with family, especially Dad and Chris at home and several visits to and from grandkids. Got to see my granddaughter Mikayla cheer at her first football game and plan to watch her first basketball game before we leave. Decided AZ was too far away from family and trip too expensive since we had just traveled more than 6000 miles this summer. Chris will move from the RV into the house as he continues school. He is doing great but really studies hard.
(9-4-10)Spent 3 nights in Clarksville with children and grandchildren and then arrived at the View.
(8-29-10)Tom Sawyer RV Park West Memphis, AR on the Mississippi River is one of our favorite parks. We picked a good time to come. Weather not nearly as hot as last week. Backed up to the River.
(8-28-10)Sallisaw KOA a good place to stay. Long level sites and nice walking trails. Couple with TN connections do a great job.
(8-29-10)First KOA we wanted to leave as soon as we saw it. Tree limbs need trimming, pine needles and pine sap falling on RVs and vehicles. No satellite TV possible due to no sites with opening to southern skies. Would never go back to North Little Rock KOA.
(8-26-10)Oklahoma City East KOA is really nice. Nice big site 90ft long, well kept and spread out. Would definitely stop here again.
(8-25-10)Left Amarillo this morning. Want to go back and stay longer. Arrived in Clinton OK KOA for 1 night and on to OK City.
(8-19-10) Monument Valley was amazing, so glad we decided to go.
(8-16-10)Had a great time at West Fest.
(8-11-10)Got to Elk Creek Campground in New Castle, CO, barely fit in 2 sites together. No parks around to accomodate Big Rigs that are nice. The people are friendly and we'll not be here very much so it will have to do.
(7-26-10)Moved to Mt Princeton RV Park in Buena Vista CO. Great park with beautiful mountains all around but not so close to feel closed in. Beautiful rock formations and the Arkansas River behind us. You can hear the water rolling over the rocks.
(7-12-10)Drove along the beautiful Arkansas river rapids through the mountains to get to Monarch Spur RV park, hard to find, GPS will not get here by park or address. Had to get site nearest office to get best chance at wifi, no cell service and sites are 20x60 but not level. It does have 50 amp hookups & is reasonable price. It is on the Arkansas River and owners are nice. Salida is 12 miles East and is a very nice little town.
(7-7-10)Arrived in LaVeta, good site but 30amp and poor wifi. Loved the town and the wildlife. Rode train to Michael Martin Murphey concert 2 days and got to spend some time with the family. We stopped at Casper KOA, Fort Collins KOA and Cheyenne Mountain Park in Colorado Springs which has magnificant views but limits days. If it were not for charging for vehicles every day it would be reasonable place to stay.
(6-27-10)Arrived in Cody & loved the town & everything around it. Absarko Bay park is a nice place to stay. Attended the Cody parade.(6-24-10)Arrived in Casper WY for 3 nights. KOA Casper turns out to be in Bar Nunn. Wifi not great, view of mountains but lots of junky fields. We have enjoyed the museums. Ready to move on to Cody. Just saw a double rainbow out the back window. Sky is beautiful.
(6-21-10)Arrived in Cheyenne WY and we have explored several museums. Stayed at the KOA which was a good park. Love the city.
(6-11-10)Arrived in Colorado Springs via 5 nights in Clarksville with kids, St Louis, Columbia, MO where we met some friends, Salina and Goodland, KS. Suites Rally is at Garden of the Gods RV Park.
(5-3-10)My precious Mom passed away 4-21-10 after a massive stroke at the age of 82 1/2 years on earth. She will be missed so badly by everyone. TN had record rainfall over the weekend. We got about 12", but many got 15 to 20". We are safe on our hill and watching the river rise below us. So much water and damage to crops, roads, bridges, businesses and homes. We can hear water as loud as large waterfalls in the woods behind us.
(2-18-10)Disappointing weather all across the south. We plan to cut our stay short due to cold weather and wind that has kept me inside.
(10-29-09)Arrived at Anchors Aweigh for the winter. Got an extra long site for our truck, RV, and car with room to spare. Joined the Y to get plenty of exercise. Lindy walks Montana in the park.
(8-10-09)We picked up our new 2010 Mobile Suites 38RLSSB4.
(6-22-09)Pictures posted of Freightliner M2
(6-15-09)2010 Mobile Suites I used 3 floor plans and picked the things I liked, so we have no idea what the model will be called.
(2-20-09)We arrived in Foley at Palm Lake RV Resort near Gulf Shores on Feb. 1st. We are close to some friends and like the fact it is close to shopping, good food and the beach. Most days it may be too cool to walk on the beach but never too cool to just sit at Bahama Bob's and enjoy watching the tides or ride down the road and take in the beauty of the Ocean and the white sand.
(2-9-09)We spent a week in Panama City Beach and it was cool until the last 2 days. I did get my "need to see a beautiful beach fix". Got a Jimmy Buffet Burger, saw 2 good movies and did some bargain shopping. We stayed at Camper's Inn across from the beach.
(1-11-09)Another beautiful warm day here in Zephyrhills,FL. We arrived here at Palm View Gardens RV Resort Jan. 1 and were a little disappointed that it was mostly Park Models with a few scattered sites for RVs where Park Models use to be. The Wifi advertised was at the office and half the dryers and Wifi at the sites had not worked for a long time. Calls to Wilder Corp. to complain were not returned. Our son Chris and his wife Laura flew down for a few days so that helped our spirits. We scouted out other parks for Feb. and had no luck. We took Laura and Chris to the Tampa airport this afternoon and then drove across Tampa Bay and came home and took our second walk in the park. People are really friendly here and now that we have internet with at&t, we are content. Montana chases the ducks that waddle to the pond, the cats that have multiplied at one ladies park model and the squirrels that play around the trees. The park is full of flowers in bloom and it makes you forget it is Jan. I call my parents often and they seem to be doing ok. The rest, warm weather and sunshine have done wonders for me, but they are never far from my mind.
(12-23-08)We are on our way back to Gulf Shores after a very bitter sweet month in TN. Dad had his mitral valve repair surgery as scheduled and 30 minutes after he was extubated he crashed and finally after what seemed forever, he was brought back after 3 shocks and numerous medications. Lindy, my daughter who is a RN and I were in the room. It was very scary and nothing I ever want to witness again. They reintubated and sedated him until the next day and the rest of the stay was ok. My son who is also a RN in ICU in Dallas flew in the day of his surgery as a surprise. He was allowed to stay with him at night in the ICU Monday and Tuesday. My daughter stayed with him all day long Monday and Tuesday. I sure was a proud mom. I stayed the 3rd night and then he was moved to a room. My sister and brother stayed their turns as well. My second brother was on the boat and I'm sure was miserable until he finally got home. Dad was in the hospital for 8 days instead of the predicted 5. Just 5 days later we drove him back to Vanderbilt in a rush with a heart rate of 132. They tried medications to bring down the rate but ended up cardioverting him to shock his heart into a slower better heart rate. This time my brother Eric was home and stayed until we begged him to go home and rest. Dad came home Thursday and seems to be doing well. Home health nurses are monitoring his Coumadin levels and his recovery. A young lady in the community stayed with my Mom and is still there until my Dad is stronger and able to lift and regain his strength. It was hard to leave, but they never asked us to stay and they both know I do not do well in cold weather.
My daughter and grandchildren came in for the weekend to celebrate Christmas with us and her grandparents. The weather was extremely cold the entire time we were in TN and the thought of weather in the 70's sounds like heaven.
(11-13-08)About 3 weeks before our trip my Dad had a problem with his heart and spent 8 days in the hospital. He has to have Heart Valve surgery at Vanderbilt Hospital Dec. 1. We will be going back the end of Nov. for his surgery and stay until the last week of Dec. We hope to be able to continue on to FL for Jan. and Feb. 09. We are having a great time. We ate at the famous throwedrolls.com called Lamberts and yes they do throw rolls and they are good. Wow was it a great place to overeat in a hurry. Bahama Bob's with a beach view is a great place to eat anything! We are doing a lot of walking and biking and getting a lot of rest. We are staying at Island Retreat. We met 2 couples from the Montana RV forum and decided we are going to move to Anchors Aweigh where one couple is staying. Love the weather and our Mobile Suites.
(9-22-08)We just got back from a 2 week trip to TX to visit our son and took our time getting there and back. Had a great time. Lindy loved the 2009 leveling system. Setting up is so easy now. We are really pleased with our 2009 Mobile Suites 36TK3.
(8-8-08)After 8 nights in the Heartland Landmark Augusta on 4 different short trips, we decided we it was not for us. We found a dealer in Memphis that sold Heartlands and Mobile Suites by Double Tree. We had wanted a Mobile suites since we saw one in 2005. The Memphis dealer didn't have the floorplan we wanted but got one from the factory that a dealer had ordered and changed his mind. I got my dream birthday gift. Lindy is so excited about the new leveling system and how well it is made.
2-9-08)Wow, we never dreamed we'd miss our RV so much! The cold weather has really taken a toll on us emotionally and physically. I've been too sick to help my Mom and Dad as much as I'd like and guess what? They made it just fine. They appreciate what we do, but I've learned something in the process. My Dad is doing much more when it comes to helping Mom with meals. Watching the 2 of them adjusting to aging together and doing what it takes in their own way and in their own time has taught me a great deal. They never asked us not to go somewhere warmer for the winter, but they haven't asked us to stay either. We made the choice to give up the whole dream and realized that maybe there is a compromise. We can't protect them from whatever is going to happen as they age and believe me, they both can still work circles around us and they want to do it themselves and sometimes our help gets in the way or is not what they want. We have decided to buy another RV and take shorter trips and not put off our dream completely.
(11-23-07)We sold our beloved Cambridge to a wonderful couple so that it will not go unused. It was a very hard decision. They bought the truck too, so we had to go get Lindy a 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD. We still believe that some day we will be able to travel after my parents no longer need us. We are really enjoying our new house and never tire of our beautiful view of the TN river as it flows and bends for several miles. The leaves are falling and we can see even more of the river. Lindy is enjoying our dog Montana who has grown to be very BIG. Life is still very good and we are blessed.
(9-6-07)The house is finished and we are almost settled into this beautiful life on "The View". We still see our traveling pictures on our screen saver and are so thankful we saw so much of our beautiful country and we still have urges to hit the road and head West. As it turned out the weather in any direction this year was unpredictable. We are firm believers that life unfolds as it should and when the time is right we will travel, at least for short periods. We just celebrated my Moms 80th birthday! Our children and grandchildren are doing well. Life is good.
(5-29-07)We traded the Kodiak 4500 and our 1500 for a 2007 3500 HD 4x4 and a 2007 Chevy HHR. We also started construction of a small house on "The View" overlooking the TN river. So far since Jan. we have stayed close to my parents. We love spending time with them and feel so blessed that they both are doing well enough to do as much as they do. My Mom has surprised the doctors. She tires easily, but still does much of the cooking now.
(2-7-07)Today we made the painful decision to sell our RV and Truck and put off our traveling as long as our family needs us here in TN.
(1-30-07)Wow, things have moved fast for us and we are having to put full timing on hold until my parents no longer need us close by in TN. We missed The View, but not the cold weather. Parents come first, so no traveling for awhile. We rushed back from AZ and cancelled trips to CA and Oahu because my Mom had a heart attack.
