PLEASE LEAVE US A MESSAGE IN OUR GUEST BOOK WHEN YOU VISIT OUR WEBSITE
First trip in Mobile Suites
(9-22-08)We just got back from a 2 week trip to TX to visit our son and took our time getting there and back. Had a great time. Lindy loved the 2009 leveling system. Setting up is so easy now. We are really pleased with the 36TK3. Felt right at home. Stayed in the RV instead of our sons house because he had hookups. Going to post pictures.
Yes we are totally NUTS!
(8-8-08)After 8 nights in the Heartland Landmark Augusta on 4 different short trips, we decided we hated the bedroom/bath layout and longed for a floorplan like our Cambridge. What to do was the question. Tried to find a Big Sky in the Cambridge floor plan, but the closest was in Lincoln, NE and Big Sky prices had gone up. We found a dealer in Memphis that sold Heartlands and Mobile Suites by Double Tree. We had wanted a Mobile suites since we saw one in 2005. That is what we should have bought instead of the Cambridge, but can't could'a would'a should'a it to death. The Memphis dealer didn't have the floorplan we wanted but got one from the factory that a dealer had ordered and then wasn't ready for it. It was exact colors, floor plan and carpet I would have ordered. They gave us a great deal so I can say I got my dream birthday gift. Lindy is so excited about the new leveling system and how well it is made. I'll try to post some pictures. We moved the LaZBoy Loveseat Wallaway to replace their 2 recliners and was going to put our matching recliner into the Mobile suites, but the 92" couch wouldn't go through the doors according to the dealer. I have mixed feelings. It is comfortable but fancy and gives us more sitting room but less dog room. For now I'm trying to adjust. In the future I will either put a less fancy cover on it or figure a way to get it out of there. It really is a beautiful unit inside and out. What a wonderful birthday 58th present. We are so Blessed.
No kidding we bought an RV
(3-5-08)After looking at several types of RVs, we bought a 2009 Landmark Augusta made by Heartland. We had wanted a Montana Big Sky by Keystone but Lindy couldn't stand up in the end of the bedroom where the closet was. Then we looked at the Cedar Creek by Forrest River and I really liked one floor plan and the name. Then Lindy found the Heartland website and we considered the Big Horn very seriously, but the Landmark looked more like the Cambridge on the outside and I loved the kitchen. Don't ask me why it is a 2009, but it did help on insurance coverage! RV'ing just gets in your blood and we are looking forward to trips. Besides, I hate to pack a suit case now!
Missing our RV
(2-9-08)Wow, we never dreamed we'd miss our RV so much! The cold weather has really taken a toll on us emotionally and physically. I've been too sick to help my Mom and Dad as much as I'd like and guess what? They made it just fine. They appreciate what we do, but I've learned something in the process. My Dad is doing much more when it comes to helping Mom with meals. Watching the 2 of them adjusting to aging together and doing what it takes in their own way and in their own time has taught me a great deal. They never asked us not to go somewhere warmer for the winter, but they haven't asked us to stay either. We made the choice to give up the whole dream and realized that maybe there is a compromise. We can't protect them from whatever is going to happen as they age and believe me, they both can still work circles around us and they want to do it themselves and sometimes our help gets in the way or is not what they want. I've said all this to say, that we have decided to buy another RV and take shorter trips and not put off our dream completely. God willing, we will be in a warmer climate next winter at least for most of Jan. and part of Feb. Once you are biten by the RV bug it is hard to be cured and frankly we don't want to be cured just yet. We are blessed. So stay tuned, we are excited about buying our 4th RV. We didn't work long hard hours and sometimes 2 jobs at a time to leave money to our kids. We love them, but they will have to make the same sacrifices we did and earn their own way. We've helped them in the past and if we continue to be blessed, our blessings will be shared, but not at the expense of not enjoying our life to the fullest.
Lindy N and Delaine's "It's a wonderful life."
(11-23-07)We sold our beloved Cambridge to a wonderful couple so that it will not go unused. It was a very hard decision, but we think they will enjoy it as much as we did. They bought the truck too, so we had to go get Lindy a 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD. We still believe that some day we will be able to travel after my parents no longer need us. We are really enjoying our new house and never tire of our beautiful view of the TN river as it flows and bends for several miles. The leaves are falling and we can see even more of the river. Lindy is enjoying our dog Montana who has grown to be very BIG. Life is still very good and we are blessed.
House on The View
(9-6-07)The house is finished and we are almost settled into this beautiful life on "The View". We still see our traveling pictures on our screen saver and are so thankful we saw so much of our beautiful country and we still have urges to hit the road and head West. As it turned out the weather in any direction this year was unpredictable. We are firm believers that life unfolds as it should and when the time is right we will travel, at least for short periods ( 1 to 2 months), again. Trying to download pictures of the house. Still working on the outside and know it will always be a work in progress. We just celebrated my Moms 80th birthday! Our children and grandchildren are doing well. Life is good.
Letting the Kodiak go........OUCH!
(5-29-07)We traded the Kodiak 4500 and our 1500 for a 2007 3500 HD 4x4 and a 2007 Chevy HHR. We also started construction of a small house on "The View" overlooking the TN river. So far since Jan. we have stayed close to my parents. We love spending time with them and feel so blessed that they both are doing well enough to do as much as they do. My Mom has surprised the doctors. She tires easily, but still does much of the cooking now. Will keep you posted with pictures as the house is built. We are taking the RV out for the first time since Jan. for a few days at a campground in Clarksville to spend time with the grandkids.
Trying to sell Cambridge
(2-7-07)Today we made the painful decision to sell our RV and Truck and put off our traveling as long as our family needs us here in TN. Go to the gallery for pictures of RV and Cambridge. We can be reached by email at cdc5046@hotmail.com and also plan to have an ad on www.rvsearch.com
Full timing put on hold
(1-30-07)Wow, things have moved fast for us and we are having to put full timing on hold until my parents no longer need us close by in TN. We missed The View, but not the cold weather. Parents come first, so no traveling for awhile. We rushed back from AZ and cancelled trips to CA and Oahu for Feb. We'll keep you posted. So glad we had the time we had and saw everything we did. Don't put it off.
Full Timers Living our Dream
(8-6-06)We have a 2006 40 foot Cambridge with 4 slideouts. Our 400 square foot condo on wheels is pulled by a 2006 Chevrolet 4500 Kodiak with a Chariot Conversion package. We traveled over 25,000 miles the first year and a half. We wanted to continue seeing the USA while we were still healthy. We decided to sell our house so we did not have to worry about taking care of a house and large yard the many months we were gone. We do have a "home base" for our RV in TN we call " The View". See pictues of "The View", Cambridge, 4500 Kodiak, our family and our travels in our picture gallery. Delaine was a RN for over 27 years who had to stop work in 1999 due to a rare brain disorder which affects the muscles of the eyes called Benign Essential Blepharospasm. Lindy retired from the Army after 26 years of service and is a cancer survivor. Both his parents and first wife died at a young age. We both have learned that health and life itself is not promised to anyone tomorrow. The house and furniture were sold, given away and personal keepsakes stored. As of September the 6th, we have been full timers' class of 2006. PLEASE LEAVE US A MESSAGE IN OUR GUESTBOOK WHEN YOU VISIT OUR WEB SITE. WE LOVE KNOWING WHO HAS TAKEN A PEEK AND WHAT YOU THINK. We update the picture gallery often. Hope to see you on the road living our dream. Happy Trails to you.
