Brief Club History
Llangollen Football Club was formed as early as 1908 but clubs such as Arosfa and Berwyn Rangers were the pioneers of football in the Vale of Llangollen at the turn of the century. The present club came to prominence in the 1950's and enjoyed success until the mid seventies when a decline seems to have set in after winning the North East Wales Cup in 1974 more than 20 years elapsed before they won the next real honours. During it's heyday the Club was managed by Scotsman Jim Birrell and retained his connections with the club until 1992 when along with other committee members resigned from the club.
It was under the guidance of ex-player Chris Tobin, who took over the reigns in 1992, that the club reached the final of the Horace Wynne Cup in his first season in charge losing to Saltney after extra time. Three years later, they reached the final of the same cup and won by defeating Brickfield Rangers, they also won the Division One League Cup defeating Bala Town in the Final and gained promotion back to the Premier Division.
The 1999 / 2000 season - The previous season seen Llangollen FC struggling near the bottom of both Division's. At the AGM, Chris Tobin stepped down as first team Manager and was replaced by Kevin Richards. Kevin had worked as Chris' no.2 for a few years and realised the potential the club had within it's ranks. One of Kevin's first signings was Goalkeeper Simon Clemence who brought a vast amount of experience to the team. After finishing in 6th position in the league, the highlight of the season was when Llangollen won the Premier Division League Cup defeating Penley in the Final 3-1.
The Reserves also changed Manager's at the AGM with Roger Thomas handing over to Towyn Evans. In his first season of management Towyn's fledglings finished the season in 6th place and he has brought through a great deal of youngsters from Arosfa Youth.

Was a regular for Cefn Druids in their early days in the Cymru Alliance and has had a tremendous season considering he has been out of the game for two years. His main asset is his pace and he has all the abilities to play as sweeper. Misses Chirk AAA due to 3 match ban.

Richard Hughes - Defender
Did not break into the first team until late last season but has not looked back since making his season. His positional play is exceptional. He will miss the first few games of the new season due to cricket commitments. No-one has seen him since Sunday's 3-legged race !

Wayne Harrington - Forward
Jimmy Connelly - Midfield
Tom Lewis - Defence
Phil Bathers - Midfield
Manager - Kevin Richards
His second season in charge and has been associated with Llangollen since a 14 year old, apart a short spell at Cefn Albion. He would like to make Llangollen a force they once were. He has carried on where Chris Tobin left off.
Mike Rogers - Coach
Well known in local football, Mike was assistant to Ken Roberts in his spell at Cefn Druids. A former professional and has been a great influence in Kevin's first season in charge. Looking at the performances so far in friendlies it seems Mike's pre-season training of running up Dinbren and Llantysilio hills are paying off.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Football managers explain...
Sir Alex Ferguson
"As far as I'm concerned he crossed the road at least a minute early according to my watch."
George Graham
"I want good, solid team chickens who'll cross the road in a straight line when they're told and how they're told. There's no room at this club for a prima donna chicken running around aimlessly - he's not worth it!"
Gianluca Vialli
"When the fish are down, he'll just be one of the chaps. It doesn't matter to me whether he's an Italian, French or English chicken as long as he's willing to die on the pitch for Chelsea."
Peter Reid
"Just cross the f***ing road, you chicken f***!"
Glenn Hoddle
"The chicken was hit by the lorry when crossing the road because in a previous life it had been a bad chicken."
Brian Clough
"If God had wanted chickens to cross roads he'd have put corn in the tarmac. Anyway, I'm more interested in Wild Turkey."
Ron Atkinson
"Spotter's badge, Clive. For me, Chicko's popped up at the back stick, little eyebrows, and gone bang! And I'll tell you what - I've got a sneaking feeling that this road's there to be crossed."
Ruud Gullit
"I am hoping to see some sexy poultry."
Gordon Strachan
"I'm really proud of the wee fella. Let's face it, if it had been one of the big chickens everyone would be saying how well he'd done, but as it's one of the wee chickens it must be luck."
John Gregory
"Two months ago that chicken was saying he was happy here. Now he tells me he wants to cross the road. I feel like shooting him."
Kevin Keegan
"OK, so the chicken's dead, but I still feel, hey, he can go all the way to the other side of the road."
