Newyddion / News
We have now returned to play at our home ground at "Cae Bob Parry", Lon Talwrn in Llangefni, after all the extensive ground development and drainage work that was undertaken during 2001/2002, we hope that the problem has now been resolved, and that the playing surface will now be in better codition. The club would like to give special thanks to those individuals who contributed to the cost of the work and to those individuals who actually helped out with the manual work.
Hanes y Clwb / CLUB INFO
Llangefni is a busy market town near the centre of the Isle of Anglesey in, or rather off, North Wales. From the East (mainland) follow the A55 to the B5111 turn off, Llangefni is a mile along.
Llangefni Town Football Club were founded in 1897, however there are records which show that there was a team in Llangefni in 1892, but this was primarily a Chapel Team.
Llangefni were founder members of the Anglesey Football Leauge in 1897, and played in it for many years. But in 1988/89 they accepted promotion into the Gwynedd League and in their first season won the grand slam i.e. The Leauge Championship, the Gwynedd Cup and Eryri Shield, and the following season 1989/90 they repeated the great feat.
The following season the club were promoted into the Welsh Alliance Leauge where they won the Leauge Championship, the Barrit and Alves Cups in the first season, they won the Barrit Cup outright after further successes in 1990/91, 1991/92 and 1992/93, they also won the Cookson Cup in 1993/94 and won the Welsh Alliance League Championship four times between 1990/91 and 1998/99, as well as being the first Anglesey side to win the Welsh Intermediate Cup in 1991/92.
Between 1994 and 1997 the team were not playing too well and in 1997/98 season Bryan Owen took over as Team Manager, and slowly but surely, he has turned things round and rejuvenated the club. When the club joined the Cymru Alliance for the 1999/2000 season the club aimed for a mid table position which is what we achieved finishing in 9th position out of 17. In 2000/2001 we finished as runners up to Caernarfon Town and in 2001/2002 we again finished as runners up, this time to Welshpool Town, Another tremendous achievement by all concerned.
This season we hope that we will be able to improve on finishing second and win the Leauge and gain promotion into the Leauge of Wales which is the ultimate goal of the club.
