Ms. Lisa A. Jacob / Physical Education
HOME OF THE BULLDOGS!!!!!!!!!!!
My name is Ms. Lisa A. Jacob and I have been teaching Physical Education since 1988. I came to Challenger Middle School in Glendale, Arizona in 1994. In 1985 I received my Associatess Degree in Athletic Training from Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut. From there I went to Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Healthin 1988. I got very tired of the cold weather in New England so I moved to sunny Arizona in 1992 and I've been here since. In 1999 I acquired a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. There you have my educational path.
Physical Education Expectations for the Challenger Bulldogs
In order to make the transition as easy as possible for the students I’d like for you to be aware of what I expect of my students, my grading system, and other pertinent information.
Grades
Each day in Physical Education class your child will be evaluated upon the following criteria: participation, dressing out and behavior. Each class period is worth 100 points. The final class grade is the average of the daily scores.
Participation = 40 points
Dressing Out = 40 points
Behavior = 20 points
Participation includes demonstration of knowledge through skill performance, interaction with peers, and some oral and written evaluations. I expect my students to behave as young adults, demonstrating respect for themselves, each other, school property and the teacher (s). Improper behavior will result in a lower grade, but may also require other consequences (see your child’s handbook). Dressing Out is required for hygiene purposes as well as for freedom of movement and safety during class activities. Students must change from school clothes to P.E. clothing.
Acceptable P.E. Clothing:
Physical Education Uniform or
T-shirt and comfortable fitting shorts or sweat pants (NO JEANS)
Tennis shoes/Sneakers
Dangling jewelry is not to be worn in class
Failure to Dress Out completely will result in a low grade and/or failure of the class.
Medical Excuses
The following procedures must be followed to be excused from P.E. class:
All excuses from home must be written and signed by parent/legal guardian and must include a daytime phone number.
Students requiring more than a week of medical release must present a Doctor’s note.
Unless stated otherwise, dress out is required even if excused from activity.
A lock and locker will be issued to each student. Locks are to be returned at the end of the school year. There is a $7.00 charge assessed for lost locks.
I believe that all students can be successful in Physical Education. Together we can assist them in becoming wonderful, outstanding adults. If you have any questions please feel free to call be at Challenger or if you’d prefer, e-mail me (contact information below).
