ABOUT THE ARTIST
Marney Schorr has been drawing and painting for seventeen years and works predominantly in oils and oil pastel. Marney's works, including an extensive series of Self Portraits, Nudes, Treescapes, Brains, and Scenes from a Hospital, have been exhibited in five solo shows and ten group shows on Long Island. Her art has been published in The Observer, Huntington Life and NAC News.

EDUCATION
Marney is a candidate for a Masters degree in Art Therapy at C.W. Post, where she served as a graduate assistant for Dr. Christine Kerr, ATR-BC, LCAT, director. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Visual Art from Empire State College.

ART THERAPY
Marney currently works as an art therapist for Heartsong, an organization that provides art and music therapy to children with developmental disabilities. She also has completed hours at both South Oaks Hospital and Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Center. She has worked on trauma and loss with adolescents and in a partial hospitalization program with adults with mental illness.

VOLUNTEER WORK
Marney has served as a volunteer conducting art therapy services at Long Island Cancer and Wellness Center in Bayshore, New York as well as LI Head Injury Association in Commack New York, where she worked under the tutelage of Susan Paradise Goodman, ATR-BC, LCAT, servicing clients with traumatic brain injury. She is also on the Consumer Advisory Board at Pederson Krag Center where she volunteers her services for the mentally ill, and where her donated art works can be viewed.

MEMBERSHIPS
Marney is a member of the American Art Therapy Association, the New York Art Therapy Association, Huntington Arts Council, the Northport Arts Coalition, Art League of Long Island, Smithtown Arts Council and Brookhaven Humanities and Arts Council, as well as Heckscher and Nassau County Museums.

Marney's current practice includes the following:
- art therapy
- art retreats, workshops and programs
- volunteer services and advocacy for the arts
