bowling for columbine ...

...like humans do.

i'm still not sure what that title (bowling for columbine) really means, but the film was incredible. we'll be talking about it on sunday so, if you haven't already,
GO SEE IT!!!!!!!

and....on "the working hour..."
as usual, i've made some waves by airing that personal conversation i had with selina about my negative group experience in vermont. if you missed it you can check it out on the archives.
(sun-15) http://www.abfreeradio.org/archives.html

(you know water signs.... can't help making waves sometimes. haha - "making waves...like cancers do"!!)

i'll be addressing some of the feedback, and going deeper into it.

do you have feelings about what i've put out there??
be bold. speak up. let's get to the bottom of this.
i think we can all learn from it if we're open to it.

i've learned quite a bit about myself since then that i'll be openly and vulnerably sharing.

ranting...
food for thought on a broader scale....
(i.e. not directly related to vermont)

if you say,"toughen up" i say "soften up." we have enough tough insensitive cold groups and people in this culture. where has it gotten us so far?

if you say "don't take cruel comments seriously. people are just joking around" i'll ask you "why do people choose to disguise insults as jokes? what about that kind of humor is funny?"

and if i hear "oh, you just have to let all that roll off your back" then i'll say,"i'm done with ignoring and denying this bullshit."

it's time to tell the truth.

i believe some of you may be more invested in being accepted as part of a group than telling the truth.

much of the group behavior i've talked and written about represents a social microcosm for this american culture at large. a cutthroat culture that ultimately divides us and in the worst case scenerio leads to violence. (columbine)

I REJECT THIS CUTTHROAT CULTURE.

what happens to the ones who can't compete and make it in this culture? i'm sure many of you will say,"who cares....survival of the fittest, right?" and that's the problem. we should all care.

why don't we care?

why aren't we kind to one another?

why don't we take care of each other?
(as bono says,"carry each other")

yes, as i've heard so often, this cutthroat mindset is just "human nature." we are driven to dominate and control. most of us feel insecure at heart. we draw our energy and esteem from the outside. and we attack one another to "win." (reminds me of that pathetic exchange of insults between romney and o'brien in the debate last night)

can't we evolve beyond this?
can't we take the high road?
don't we NEED to evolve?

if you say "well, nice guys finish last." i'll say," I'm happy to lose a race for money, power, dominance, control, ... (greed, pride, gluttony, envy...) "

we seriously and urgently need to examine our values in this country. what kind of "race" are we in? and if this way of being in the world is so great, then why do they call it a "rat race?"

...let's talk about it.

i am willing to be honest with myself and with all of you.

are you?

truth......more powerful than money? imagine that.

this honest discussion, along with the always honest "greenhouse" and a discussion about michael moore's film "bowling for columbine" will air sunday oct. 27 from 2-6 p.m. EST. please join us.

at 2 on "the greenhouse" ken will discuss last night's debate and our favorite candidate Dr. Jill Stein: a truth seeker and truth speaker.

"maybe it'll be a revolution you can evolve to."

let the "lovevolution" revolution begin.
