ANOTHER LIVING ROSE

MUSICAL CHAIRS

We played a game, a happy game when we were fair of face.
The music started playing with all the chairs in place.
Our youthful feet would scurry as we would dance around;
And, when the music stopped we found a place to settle down.

We played our musical chairs
Removing one by one.
With music we would laugh and dance
‘Til all the chairs were gone.
Now standing here, it’s only you and I.
There is no place to settle down;
We cannot help but cry.
The game took all the laughter
Took rhythm from our song;
And, when we hear the music
The game cannot go on.
We do not feel the love anymore.
Our musical chairs became a war.

We found the world a reckless world when love was not around.
The music kept on playing; but, chairs were falling down.
Our feet became unsteady; our selfish greed came out.
Now with our world all broken, we question, “What is life about?”

We play our musical chairs
Removing one by one.
The friends we used to play with
Have given up and gone.
Now standing here, it’s only You and I.
I’m feeling so unsettled
I turn to You and cry.
“Lord, I am feeling lonely
My friends have turned away.
Please come to me with music
Add purpose to Your day.”
I feel Your love much stronger than before.
There’ll be no playing games anymore.

THE MEMORY BOOK

I’ve made for you a Memory Book, the pages you cannot see
With many words and pictures left for your memory.

I’ve chosen days most precious in your mind for your revue;
And added pictures with some words to simply say, “I love you.”

Skip past all unhappy days, I tried to leave them blank.
Linger long on chips of love stored in your memory bank.

I’d like to see you smiling when you recall good times.
That’s why I’ve circled them in red with double underlines.

The smiley faces mark the fun and laughter we have shared.
Our special love and family jokes leave nothing yet compared.

You’ll see I placed a bookmark for the most important part,
The day God handed me the Gift Of Jesus in my heart.

While picking up this memory book to think of me each day,
Say many “Thanks” to Jesus that He let you come my way.

When you put down The Memory Book remember where it’s laid
So you can be reminded the important role you played.

We filled it full of love and comfort, patched it here and there;
And made it so unique for generations unaware.

We need to share our Jesus; make all our loved ones know,
That He will take us home when we are finished here below.

If you must mark the pages with your tear stains just a bit.
Please rush to pictures of His arms with love that never quits.

You’ll see these pages bound with love as true as purest gold.
God put it all together for His glory to extol.

So, think on things that God has given you to do today,
To show His love and praise His name, so others find His way.
