Sacajawea, the bird woman.
Sacajawea, was a woman of the Shonshone tribe. At the age of twelve, she was kidnapped by the Hidasta tribe, who later sold her to a white man studying the french language named Charbonneau. Soon she was married to him with no choice, because at that time woman couldn't chose where they lived or who they married.
At the age of fifteen, Sacajawea ended up pregnant and on an accident she was signed up for Lewis and Clark's expedition. She had no idea what she was doing there, but her husband forced her to stay.As for Lewis and Clark, they were glad she was there on the expedition because she could translate for them both in French, and in Shoshone.
At that time ,a few months later, her and her two month old son Jean Baptiste, whom, his father named him was on their way discovering, what is now today ND,OR,MT,ID,and WA. She earned her respect because of her guidance, support, medical care, and etc.
The reason why I picked this topic is because I wanted to know more and more about Sacajawea. She died a happy woman in MN.
