VACCINATIONS
A HEALTHY IMMUNE SYSTEM
Those of us who have never
vaccinated for anything are firm believers that anyone (human or
animal) with a healthy and properly functioning immune system is
strong enough to fight off any disease. We concentrate on feeding a
species appropriate diet, staying away from anything that will either
suppress or weaken the immune system (steroids, antibiotics,
pesticides, HW preventers, flea preventers, etc., etc.) and depend on
this health to handle disease. We do, however, prepare ourselves for
the slight possibility that a disease may come our way. So we have
homeopathic remedies, ParvAid, and other natural means to deal with
the unlikely situation of a bad disease getting to our animals. In
those cases, we have also experienced that our animals get over them
quickly, with no permanent side effects and continue to live long
healthy lives.
There is absolutely no need for yearly boosters. One vaccine
provides immunity for life, in those animals with a strong enough
immune system to mount a reaction to the vaccine and create
immunity. This is one of our points of contention. Only animals
with strong immune systems do become immunized with vaccines.
Animals with weak immune systems, are not immunized by vaccines,
because their immune system does not mount a reaction to the vaccine,
hence no immunity. These weaker animals become sensitized by the
vaccines and many of them end up getting the disease for which they
were vaccinated. So, if only healthy animals create immunity to
vaccines, why vaccinate them to begin with? Vaccines create chronic
disease. So, if a healthy animal creates immunity to a disease with
a vaccine, but then because of the vaccine may end up with chronic
disease, it is much better to not vaccinate at all and count on their
immune system to handle the challenge of these diseases without the
chronic disease side effect.
