What is Kirisutokyoo-Ryu?
Kirisutokyoo-Ryu means literally “The Christian Way” in Japanese. Ryu is a word that means way, or style in regards to a style of martial art. Pangainoon is translated to mean "half hard, half soft" in regards to the style.
The "Christian Way" is an orginization that practices the Okinawan style of Uechi-Ryu, an extremely effective style in the art of self-defense. We also practice some supplemental martial arts material.
The main difference between Kirisutokyoo-Ryu and other styles is that while many martial art schools teach the eastern philosophies that have accompanied the martial arts throughout their histories, Kirisutokyoo-Ryu does not endorse Asian religious ideas, but provides a Christian environment for the student. It also encourages the Christian martial artist to think about what his role in martial arts should be.
WHAT CAN THIS CLUB DO FOR ME?
The eastern philosophy that looms around so many martial art schools usually encourages harmony and peaceful means of solving conflict. These aspects of martial arts are good for students, but I don’t believe anything is truly complete or good without God's truth being involved. This School teaches the karate student how to incorporate his or her Christian values into his karate, just as a Christian Doctor should incorporate his Christian values into his practice, or a Christian Business man into his business deals.
If a student is dedicated to doing the best he can do, and working diligently in this style, he or she can expect to receive many benefits. An enriched Christian life and broader understanding of the Bible can be expected, as well as a stronger, healthier body and the clearer mind that comes with it. As with anything, the student will advance at a rate that depends on the amount of practice and effort that he chooses to put into his studies.
WHO CAN ATTEND LESSONS?
Kirisutokyoo-Ryu is a non- denominational Christian organization, and therefore is restoration minded in all that it does. We believe that the Bible is the one and only source of God's word, and is complete and should not be altered by any doctrine of man. For more information on non-denominational Christian Churches and the restoration movement, see the links below.
Kirisutokyoo-Ryu is an orginization for the Christian who wishes to learn a martial art without having to deal with eastern religious teachings, or for anyone who cares to enrich both their physical and spiritual life.
