Welcome to my website! I'm Jonathan Sydel, a different 13 year old kid, who lives for movies. I watch them, analyze them, review them, create them and want to be another Spielberg when I grow up. I love adult movies and I review them from my "kid's eye". Enter my world...

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
Feature Running Time: Approx. 150 minutes
PG-13 Intense sequences of adventure violence, including frightening images
Starring: Johnny Deep, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Bill Nighy, Naomie Harris, Jack Davenport, Tom Hollander, Jonathan Pryce.

Wow! What a stupendous movie! It’s my favorite film of the whole year. This is definitely the most mind-blowing, heart-stomping, supernatural, jaw-dropping, must-see, high-sea epic adventure blockbuster hit masterpiece of the year that you will want to see over and over again. If you like action, romance, humor, and high-sea adventures with rum and revenue, this is the right film for you. Johnny Deep is back as Captain Jack Sparrow along with Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley returning as heroic lovers with new supernatural characters and twist surprises.

This time, the lucky Captain Jack Sparrow, the charming and most notorious pirate ever to sail, is on another dangerous voyage threatened by another, new nemesis, the ghostly, sea phantom, squid-faced lord of the deep, Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) and briefly reunited with his old friend, Will Turner’s father, Bootstrap Bill Turner (Tom Hollander) held captive in Davy Jones’ ghost ship. But for Jack, his crew, and his ship, The Black Pearl, to survive, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and his future bride Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who were accused and arrested for helping Jack Sparrow escape from prison in Port Royal, are assigned to find Jack and retrieve an item from him, but then later teams up with Jack in an epic adventure. Reunited, Jack, Will, Elizabeth, Mr. Gibbs, Jack’s crew, and even Commodore Norrington (Jack Davenport) must work together to fight against the fearless, tentacle-faced pirate Davy Jones, his army of creepy undead soldiers, and the giant sea monster Davy Jones commands to return peace to the sea, free Will’s father, and to bring an end to Davy Jones. But for our heroes to bring an end to Davy Jones, they must first find the secret key to open the Dead Man’s Chest with a profound secret and mysterious legend that lies inside the chest itself. There are intense action scenes with sword fighting and scary image along with thrilling, suspenseful scenes that you’ll be sitting at your “edge of your seat”. Also the make-up and special effects of this film is amazingly extraordinary. Finally, the very end of the film has a twist ending which will make your jaw drop and mind blow up, but only if you’ve seen the first film.

Johnny Depp has put on a phenomenal performance along with the other actors, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. If you enjoyed the first film, you're sure to love the second film along with the third film coming soon. I think ages 10 and up could see this film. Little kids might be scared because there’s a giant sea monster that kills people, destroys ships and sucks down ships in an instant. This movie rocked my socks and it was so awesome that I want to see it again and again!

Keeping up with the Steins
Feature Running Time: Approx. 99 minutes
PG-13 Some nudity, crude language and brief drug references
Starring: Jeremy Piven, Garry Marshall, Jami Gertz, Daryl Hannah, Doris Roberts, Daryl Sabara, and Richard Benjamin

A lighthearted film about a rich family trying to "keep up with the Joneses" (actually the Steins) when they make a Bar Mitzvah for their kid, Benjamin (Daryl Sabara), just as good as their friends’ Bar Mitzvah. Imagine hiring an entire cruise ship for a Bar Mitzvah with a surprise theme!! Family problems develop and gives the audience a lot of humor and laughs with cute, frivolous scenes when the lucky Benji tries to reunite his far distance hippie grandfather (Garry Marshall), which he never met, with his father (Jeremy Piven) from a bad memory by inviting him a week early which becomes a disaster, but can Benji succeed his plan of family togetherness of love between his father and grandpa.

Doris Roberts and Garry Marshall as the separated Grandparents, Daryl Hannah as Grandpa’s hippie girlfriend, Richard Benjamin as the Rabbi, Daryl Sabara from Spy Kids played the young Bar Mitzvah Boy, the parents were Jeremy Piven and Jami Gertz from "The King of Queens". I expected a little more comedy in this film and was a little disappointed but still enjoyed it.

This movie is good for all ages, especially people that will understand the Jewish jokes.

The Da Vinci Code
Feature Running Time: Approx. 149 minutes
PG-13 Disturbing Images, violence, nudity, thematic material, sexual content and brief drug references
Starring: Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Jean Reno, Paul Bettany, Alfred Molina, and Jean-Pierre Marielle

A murder inside the Louvre and clues in Da Vinci paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years -- which could rock the world of Christianity. It is up to Harvard professor of religious symbology Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) and agent Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou) to try to find clues to reveal this secret and show the world this incredible scandal.

This movie was the full of suspense, action and thrilling scenes. It's very scary and very disturbing for youngsters. It'll give them the creeps! It was hard for me to understand everything because I'm a kid, but if people read the book first, you might understand it better. I still loved it.

The Ant Bully

PG Some mild rude humor and action
Voices of Julia Roberts, Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, Paul Giamatti, Zach Tyler Eisen, Regina King, Bruce Campbell, and Lily Tomlin

Wow! The Ant Bully deserves a one-word review: Amazing! It’s charming, magical, and awesome. Two thumbs-up! It has action, humor, surprises, and some suspense. Director, producer, and screenwriter John A. Davis will turn your wheels around when you see this wonderful, funny, touching, and heartwarming must see family film knockout of the summer. Based on the book by John Nickle. Children 6 and up may see this film, but some adults might get bored and antsy, but all together it was worth it, especially for the kids.

It’s the story of 10-year-old Lucas Nickle (Zach Tyler Eisen) who is always tormented and bullied by a bunch of neighborhood bullies and the kid takes his anger out by stomping an anthill. After too much havoc causing ruins in the anthill, Wizard Ant Zoc (Nicolas Cage) creates the perfect potion to get revenge on young, little Lucas so he could learn it’s not friendly to fool with mother nature or ants. Lucas then finds himself in more trouble after he is shrunken to the size of an ant from the magic potion Zoc whipped up, which he dropped in Lucas’ ear and is

Now, Lucas is kidnaped taken to the ants headquartered and ordered by the Queen Ant (Meryl Streep) to behave and act like an ant. Tutored by Nurse Ant Hova (Julia Roberts), Lucas will learn cooperation, friendship, and how awesome ant culture can be and what it’s all about. Things don’t go that great with Lucas being teased, slow in many things, being chased and spit out from frogs, and he just doesn’t fit in until he learns how to behave and act like an ant. But Lucas most learn quickly in time to warn the ants before the not-so-friendly, sloppy ant exterminator (Paul Giamatti) arrives so Lucas and the his friends can bring an end to the exterminator’s evil plans.

I sure loved it and I know that you, your friends, and your family will enjoy this amazing film, too. So listen up, grab your parents and drag them to the movies. So what are you waiting for! Well if your ready, buckle your seatbealts and hold on tightly for the exciting, thrilling, roller coaster ride, The Ant Bully!

Superman Returns
Feature Running Time: Approx. 157 minutes
PG-13 Some intense action violence
Starring: Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Spacey, Frank Langella, Parker Posey, James Marsden, Kal Penn, Sam Huntington, Eva Maria Saint, Tristan Leabu, and the voice of Marlon Brandon as Jor-El

Amazing, Spectacular, Intense, Dramatic, and Romantic. This super, dark, powerful, and touching movie will make your mouth drop down from the intensity and special effects in this summer blockbuster hit. I was so amazed by this film that I had to see it again and I did. It has become one of my favorite movies and I think that it’s the best super-hero film of all time. You’ll be at the edge of your seat the whole time, but most of all I think the acting was incredible. Brandon Routh put on the greatest performance as a hero in a movie since Haley Joel Osment’s performance in ‘The Sixth Sense’. Kevin Spacey was so incredibly dramatic, intense, and strong in this performance that he should win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor as the angry, greedy and bald archvillain of Superman, Lex Luthor. But all together, I think the whole, entire cast did great jobs and they made the movie more exciting because of their great acting. The relationship between Lois and Superman/Clark isn’t what I expected and I thought it would be more romantic, but all together there really is a lot of romance, including some surprises and intense sequences.

It’s about Superman/Clark Cable returning to Earth after five years of searching for his destroyed home planet, Krypton, in the universe after astronomers said that some of the destroyed planet was far in the distance of the universe, but when Superman returns shocking things are revealed. Superman’s old foe, Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) has escaped from jail and the love of his life, Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth), pulitzer winner reporter of the Dailey Planet and friend of Clark Cable, is engaged to the Daily Planet editor Perry White’s (Frank Langella) nephew, Richard White (James Marsden) and Lois has a 5-year-old kid, Jason (Tristan Leabu). When Superman finds out that Lex Luthor has escaped from jail with another evil plan, Superman must stop Lex before he harms Lois, destroys California, and even conquers the entire world with crystals and kryptonite combined in this action-packed, exciting, and extraordinary film of a man, his powers, his life, and the challenges that lie ahead of him. Superman Returns rocks! So go and see this timeless, classic adventure.
