Knight Berman has been an insurance broker, agent, agency owner, and consultant since 1958. Berman has effected and supervised placement and servicing of property-casualty insurance for businesses in 30 states. As the insurance representative for many corporate accounts, Berman is well acquainted with the complexities of various business coverages. His clients have included prominent accounts such as The Tropicana Hotel, Seabrook Farms, Blount, Inc., The Mitchell Company, The University of South Alabama, KinderCare Learning Centers, Enstar Group, Inc, Viscofan USA. Inc. and others of similar prominence in their fields.
Berman has testified at depositions, hearings, and trials on behalf of clients on many occasions, as well as an independent expert witness.
Berman worked and trained with The Home Insurance Company in New York City, where he also attended The Royal Insurance Company school and supplementary courses. He attended Baylor Military School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the University of Alabama before serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Berman’s business and insurance knowledge stems from agency/brokerage company management as well as direct involvement with insurance placement and insurance services. As an officer and owner in two independent insurance agencies, Berman served variously as chairman, president, secretary and treasurer. As an owner, he managed I. Berman Co., Inc.,a regional insurance agent/broker from 1964 to 1991. In 1991, he merged it with Willis Corroon Corporation, one of the largest global insurance brokers. He became Executive Vice President and later Senior Vice President of Willis Corroon of Alabama.
Having retired from Willis, Berman stays abreast of current insurance matters by participating at seminars and major conferences on business insurance topics.
