The last few weeks have been busy fun and full of success and failures. I want to say a special thank you to the Bass Kick’n Baits and Legal Limit Lures for there support there fine products have been a key part to our success.

The Pend Oreille River tournament was great and the Kentner’s dominate the field. Swimming Legal Limit Lures football jigs and Bass Kick’n Baits tubes in the grass flats was the key pattern. Dakota finished 1st in the youth division and 10th overall. Shelly fished her first tournament with us and finished 9th with the big fish 6.37# for $240. Mike finished first in the top five payout for $300. What a weekend.

Next was the Washington State Jamboree a little tougher weekend however we did manage to stay in the top 50 finishing 47th, Dakota made a strong comeback on day three with in the youth division by switching to top water and finishing 6th.

Last weekend Dakota fished the FLW youth state championship he struggled on day one and made a strong comeback day two to finish forth place. The wether was great and all the kids caught fish.

Wow the last two weeks has been great to us. April 25th the Kentner Fishing Team fished the FLW/TBF Washington Banks lake shootout taking first place with 15.56 lb and the big fish of 5.72lb. We were swimming Legal Limit Lures jigs and Strike King Poison’s in shallow water. It sure fills good to have a Win early in the year.

May 2-3 we fished the Snake River with I.E.B.C. bad weather and all ended up with a 5th place finish and Dakota ended in 4th in the youth and 20th overall. Not bad for no pre fishing and not having been on the water for over 25 years.

We will be on the Pend Oreille River May 16-17 with I.E.B.C.

I want to say thank you to Mercury Marine, Bass Kick’n Baits, and Les Whitley for there support and fine products.

The Valley Marine Open on Banks went well this weekend, Dakota and I did not place in the money however we were just a few ounces out. Saturday we were able to take lots of smallmouth slowly crank baiting our way up to just under 9 lb. Sunday was hot still and the fish were not very active. Switching to finesse baits we caught lots of fish however we could only get 4 to 5 lb. at 1130 we opted to make some changes and in 2 hours culled all the fish we had and upgraded to 5 largemouth just under 10 lb. we ended in 11th place coming up from 20th place on Saturday. Not a bed weekend just should have executed a little differently and could have won.
Our next event will the Northwest Bass on Banks lake August 16th, if all goes well and the fish hold for us I believe we can take this one to the bank. After this event we will be out Bowhunting until October, hoping for a big Bull Elk.

We finally got our boat back, runs great with the new lower unit thanks to Nixon’s Marine and Progressive Ins. We are heading for the Valley Marine Open this weekend on Banks Lake with high hopes of a victory. The fishing has been good for smaller fish the last few days with only a few big fish to be found. However I am confident that we can catch a good limit each day. I have a good stock of Legal Limit Lure Jigs and Rage Craws from Strike King. Plus a few other tricks up my sleeve and as always Dakota will be manning the Frog for the big fish of the day.

Last weekend we fished the youth tournament on Long Lake in Spokane with little success however we did get Dakotas partner onto a few fish and he ended up in 6th place. It was fun and good for Dakota to do little teaching about fishing to others.

Well I still do not have my boat they say I am still waiting on parts and should have it back on Friday next week. If I have the boat back on time we will be at Long Lake Spokane for the youth tournament. Dakota and I will be in Spokane at the Indian’s baseball game, outdoor sport night, on Monday the 21st to work the booth for IEBC / Mercury Pro Team. It should be lots of fun and a way to kill some extra time.

The boat is in the shop and getting repaired, hopefully I will have it back next week. Apparently I bent the prop shaft and tore the gears up so they can not even get it apart. They will be putting a new lower unit on and I will be up and running soon.

We also are going to miss the IEBC tournament this weekend, however should be up and running by the first of august for the Valley Marine Open on Banks Lake. To all those fishing this weekend good luck and wish I was there.

The boat will be off to Nixon’s Marine on Tuesday and will be apart by Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully I will be up and running by the next week and we will be ready for the Open on banks the first of August. Dakota and I are going nuts without the boat but my wife says we will survive just fine.

Well today Branson and I saved lots of gas, early this am we hit something in the middle of Banks Lake. This little endeavor bent the prop shaft and busted the gears out of the lower unit, disabling my boat. We fished our way back to the launch after we were unable lo limp in with the outboard. We did manage to catch a few fish and had a good time anyway. As far as the boat it will be off to Nixon’s marine for repair.

This week we have been fishing Lake Roosevelt Pre fishing for the IEBC tournament, however it was moved to the Two River area. I will not be attending this event Branson and I will be fishing Banks Lake this weekend and Dakota and Shelly are attending an Archery shoot with there grandparents.

Lake Roosevelt fishing has been tough for this time of year related to the lake elevation coming up so fast. Monday and Tuesday we fished mainly 20 – 25 foot of water on the gravel flats to catch good fish. The primary methods of fishing have been 4” grubs cinnamon with black flake and drop shot 3” minnow. On Wednesday we found the fish moving up to shallow water 4 – 12 foot range and active. Best fishing on Grubs as above and crank bates, and a few fish on top water and jerk bates.

Week of June 16 – 21

This week we are on vacation On the Pend Oreille River in north eastern Washington. It is great to be away from work for awhile and just fish for fun with no schedule. For all those working this week I feel sorry for you and I am not thinking of you.

Fishing her is great Lots of Northern Pike, in the 4-12 lb. class with some topping over 15. We are seeking one Pike over 20 lb. this week. Bass are active tucked far back in the trees and brush; so far this week we have caught several bass over 5 lb. with fish 3 – 5 lb. common. Be sure to take a look at the Picture Gallery to see some of the resent catches.

In two weeks we will be on Lake Roosevelt fishing a IEBC Tournament, Must keep that kid busy.
