For more than five decades, Nacel has promoted programs in Iowa and other states with opportunities aimed at students who want to broaden their perspective of the world and gain practical experience living, working and learning in another culture.
Our world can be made better if today's youth learns to understand and appreciate its cultural and linguistic diversity. Young people benefit from our experiences which complement their classroom learning, which helps them develop an awareness of their role as world citizens, and which instills in them an ability to enjoy and adapt to diversity and change. Nacel Open Door is committed to ensuring that these experiences be accessible and affordable to as wide a range of people as possible.
Volunteer to Host a Foreign Exchange Student!
Students, spend an exciting school year studying abroad! Living with a host family offers the excitement of study abroad in the security of a family setting. Completely immerse yourself in another culture as you become part of the host family and participate in all of their activities.
Host families experience the intricacies of a foreign culture while developing life long friendships with foreign students. These exchange students become a part of your family for the school year. You are their parents, their confidants and their guides in a new world. At the same time, you develop a deep cultural understanding of your own, living with the culture personified.
