SUMMARY
Judith Puyat-Magnaye is a Policy Associate in the Capacity Development Group, Bureau for Development Policy of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York. She came to New York in 1994. Judith holds a Masters of Science in Management of International Public Organizations from New York University (NYU)/Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service. She is currently the Chair of the Chapel Pastoral Council of the Chapel of San Lorenzo Ruiz/Philippine Pastoral Center which falls under the Filipino Apostolate of the Archdiocese of New York. Among other networks, she contributes to the discussions on the Philippine Brain Gain network which focuses on upgrading the Philippine educational system and promoting venture capitalism as these link to job creation/employment, including the role of diaspora philanthropy and the Filipino Hometown Associations (HTAs). Judith is deeply interested in turning the Philippine brain drain problem into gain in the near future and advocates that private sector development is one crucial area in making this a reality.
Judith’s first UNDP duty station was in Copenhagen, Denmark where she stayed for 5 years (1989-1994). In Copenhagen, she supported the activities of the Filipino Association of Denmark (FAD) and its newsletter as well as the St. Anne’s Church.
Prior to UNDP, she was an Investments Officer of the Far East Bank and Trust Company (FEBTC) in Manila, which has now merged with the Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI).
Judith is an energetic, results-oriented and organized team player with 22 years combined experience in administration and financial management, programme, policy and processes formulation and implementation in the international development arena and the private sector. Fluent in English with working knowledge of Spanish, with strong communication and oral presentation skills and strong inter-personal skills.
