My Poetry

Mother's Love

Mothers reassuring smile
Was comforting
Her voice of dignity
Was peaceful
Her love everlasting

Momma

Memories of you
Silhouetted in my mirror
I have your eyes
Smile and laugh
You taught me love

How many days are wasted?

None
Each new day brings learning
Adventure for your heart
Spirituality for your soul
Knowledge for your mind
Health for your body
work, play and rest

Rain

Bright colors swirl
Crowds with umbrellas
Passing by
On shiny wet pavement
Light breeze moving
Humanity in the city

Van Gogh

Days of madness
sullen symbolic delirium
clamoring laughter
culturaly social psyche
played into futures
of regrouping dreams

My Beautiful Garden

Blossoming crimson chrysanthemums
Reflecting soft golden light rays
Brightening shimmering foliage fronds
Magnifying brilliance
Bluebird grasps branches
Dewy grass bending

A Butterfly And A Dove

An orange-black monarch
Fluttering sideways
Suddenly
Caused a dove
Dressed in white opaque-silk
Leaping, danced and dive-bombed
In resplendent fashion

When First We Met

A vision of your twinkling eyes - - a
Smile said a thousand words
We talked about yesterday - - and
Realized we had much in common
Unable to change the past
We would only look forward
With a life together - - and
Change our life to happiness

War

Enveloping wrath
Process cruder corruption
Vision of deminished violations
Weapons threaten hope
Thirsting for peace

Just David

Kindness filled his eyes
His jeans were a disquise
His unique personality drew you in
His originality was scandalously sexy

Lovely Eyes

Lovely eyes
Can't resist you
Desire you
Luring scents
Of intrigue
Follow you
Love you
Found love

Poetry of Life

Although the words escape me
I know the feelings
the thrill
the exhilarating excitement of it all
The ups and downs
life and death
Belief in the hereafter
some call faith
To wake each day
and look forward to the challenge
To be with loved ones
and be loved for who you are
To live life a simple sonnet
from beginning to the end
to do some little thing that really matters
is all I really care
To feel my life fufillment
and cherish every prayer

Live Love and Enjoy

Live your life
Enjoy each day
Love with all your heart
Give someone your time
be part of their life
show someone you care
hold a child
pet a dog
be of cheerful heart
And in the end you'll have happiness within

Haiku Poetry

Majestic mountains
Bountiful fertile valleys
Echos heard betwixt

Gentle river flows
Slips over rocks still swirling
Rhythmic to the eye

Mountains of beauty
Horse trails of long ago
Left natures bounty

Beaches teaches me
That nothing stays forever
Changes deep within

Duck with her ducklings
protecting, guiding, teaching
Into adulthood

Tornado Damage

Soft whispers through cracks
carried across passages
in the house
and steady wind
shook rooms
followed by collapsed walls

Talented

Draws on canvas
Scatters clouds
Above blue seas
And mountains
Found his desire
From love

A Pirates Life

Childhood adrift the sea
My life to be break the rope
And try to cope afloat a ship

A Childs Faith

A child came to pray
Dear Lord I have
This flower for you
Please feed my baby brother
Mom and Dad too
My parents are ill
And cannot work

The child knelt in prayer
His faith so strong
He wept a tear
His angel right beside
He saw a gleaming light
And knew his prayer was answered

When he returned home
He saw his parents smile
They told him how a stranger
Knocked at the door with food

His heart skipped a beat
But knew his Lord
Heard and answered his prayer

Poem From Grandma

On a starlit night
They chose the brightest star
And called the star Lauren

When the angel delivered Lauren
To Sheila and Terry
They fell in love with her

A bright child, happy personality,
one in a billion

Lauren is my Princess
To Grandpa she is Angel

We will always love her

A Summer Breeze

The grasses sway
A fragrant spray
Flowers in bloom
The birds fly aloft
and squirrels jump out

Taste the mint that grows in the meadow
Feel a flow of a fragrant breeze
See a trickle of a gentle stream
And flutter of birds wings
Growing grass beneath my feet
Tickle when I stride across

The sun glistens brightly
And shadows so lightly
Let me know Summer has arrived

Ask the Lord

Ask the Lord for Guidance
ask what you can do for another
don't keep trying to gain all for self
if you see her cry give her your hankie
to see him hurt offer to aid his wound
to go in need of others help
to feed the hungry
clothe the naked
Ask the Lord what you can do to help
Say Hello
smile and say God Bless You
nothing to fear but fear itself
to be joyous and kind is all a part
Of His Divine Spirit
So next time you see someone in need
don't turn your back ask what do you need

Changing Seasons

Birds soaring high

flying eyeing sighing dying spying

defying replying underlining free me

soar galore explore from the heights of the
sky and the heat in July into the brillance
above
September to November sleet of September

compete until November

The white snows of December hot coal to ember

Snows blows flows choose clothes

Sun rose Rose flower Spring bring string
to fly high kite wing sing

Magnolia Dahlia Juniper trees

Azalea flower and seeds

Sea shells bells spells tells dwells

Yellow bells excells Christmas bells farewells

Moravia, New York

It's summer in the Finger Lakes,
Deep in the forest, the sunlight captures the deer's
movement far off as faint gray shadows.
The canopy is thick of lush leaves, and the cool air
delivers an essence of balsam and heather a real
earthy scent.

Nearby, the trickling stream gives drink to the deer.
Small animals scatter about on the pine needle
and moss covered carpet as we sat still up
against the trunk of a tree. The wind created
a whimsical sound as leaves brushed upon
one another.

The birds were pecking on berries and seeds
in the soft light. The squirrels gathered nuts
and then proceeded to bury them.

The Lake

Back at the lake
the children jump
swinging from a rope
of a tree.
Splashing into the crystal blue water.
Swimming, laughing, clearly having fun.

As evening fell,
we drank lemonade
on the porch swing.
Watching the swirling water
slip over the sheer rock
and gushed with white foam
as the crescent moon shinned on

Winter Tale

The ice appeared as a silvery piece of satin
With all speckles that glistened to the eye
You could see your breath in a blue haze
Sight was a short distance, all shinny glaze
Death defying slopes and crevasses
Each step made a crunch slowly to the house
Clapping mittened hands for warmth
Shivering and nostrils pinching, feet numb with pain
Approaching closer I saw smoke from the chimney
Climbing stairs couldn't believe I made it
Felt the warmth by the fire
Had a hot drink and retired

The Old Man

The dear old man talks to a vacant table
And he stares with a gaze into his empty glass

Unfound Treasures

Immeasurable beautiful treasures
time weathered intricate glittering silver
not yet found in the deep blue ocean

Walk With Me

Take my hand and walk with me
Whatever the problem we'll handle together
Take my hand to share our life
Our future together
No matter what the weather
We'll handle the storms together
Walk in the sun, rain or snow
Be at my side in times of trial
As I with you
Have I told you yet today
"I Love You"
Forever and ever walk with me

Hunger

Sleeplessness of worry
touch emptiness of fear
empty dangerous hours
of bitterness
gone hungry for days

Haunted House

Creaking floors
passing footsteps
human vision
passing quickly
room by room
billowing curtains
flowing in the breeze
Watch
Peer
Hide

Artiste

Yearned for Leonardo
Spells of Rembrandt
Echoes of Gauguin
Picasso was a Cubist
Degas found his class in Ballet

Yesterday

Yesterday
desire of my love found
really didn't look
Life is delicious
grasp the thoughts
humble traveller
was in groove

Hope

When basic functions
become dwindling abilities
incapacitation
suffering
existence of life
almost seem an illusion

Mountains

Perpetually the snow
lay on the mountain face
storms howled morning and night
imprisoned self-containment
masked the mountains

Artwork

Producing countless
Schemes on canvas
Spends hours finishing
His vision
The artist life's work
Finished with Love and Joy

Remembering Grand Papa

Grandfather's brow rises
speaking of songs chanted
moments of long ago
shared joyous ancient songs

Climbers

The ultimate gain
Man found the summit
On the mountain
This desire sustains
Man's spirit and body

Justice Gone

Armies silenced heartbeats
Where Indians once breathed
Fragrant scent of wilderness
Echoing sweet memory
Now disappeared

The Promised Land

O'Lord of Israel
Hear our prayers
Voices muttered
Among us
Cries
Whispers
For Peace

Those Poor Horses

When we rode
We laughed with tears
Some shouts and yells
Whiskey and beer
The fun times

My First Poem

Trust

When she was a little girl, her parents sent her to dancing lessons.
She did her lessons well. Her parents were young. She was growing up with them. She looked up to them and believed what they said.

Being an only child, she made many friends, she wasn't lonely.
She adored her mother, she learned to cook,
bake, and do crafts of all sorts.
Her mother loved to garden, her father loved to golf.

All she learned was love. She loved her father, and golfed with him.
They became buddies. One day she learned they were moving.
Packed and did what she was told.

Her aunt took her for a ride with her belongings,
and stayed in an attic bedroom.
Her mother and father never told her they separated.
They were silent.
She asked her mother what had happened.
Her mother replied, we'll talk another time.

Her father left without a hug, she didn't see him for years.
What went wrong? He started another life.
He never drew her in. He remained a stranger.

'Til they learned he was ill. His days were short. She spent time with him.
Her heart was broken. He was a stubborn man, but in the end he was sorry.
