BIO: Jorden Micheal Smith was born on June 22, 1987. He developed a love for the drums at a young age but could not afford to buy a drumset, not to mention his parents would not hear of him banging on the drums all day and night. Jorden was dissapointed at the fact that there was no way that he could afford a drum set but he still had the fire burning in his soul and was completly in love with musical instruments. So he began collecting change any where he could, Christmas money was the main source of cash flow for him primarily because he was only 7!
Finally he had his fifty dollars collected and he went to the neighborhood pawnshop. He was happy to find a black Harmony brand guitar he picked up for just under $50.00. He was astounded, it was a musical instrument of his own. Jorden took the guitar home where his brother and father crudely fashioned an amplifier out of a radio and a Realistic microphone preamp.
Jorden began taking lessons at age 7 from local guitar instructor Ray De Mers. He began to fall in love with the sounds of classic rock, like Led Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers... one day his instructor recommended he hear Stevie Ray Vaughan. He bought the album The Sky Is Crying, when he heard the song Little Wing it was all she wrote, Jorden decided that he was on a mission to play guitar like the beautiful sounds he heard. Jorden went on to find out about S.R.V.'s influences like, Albert King, Albert Collins, B.B. King, Freddie King...and especially Jimi Hendrix. He had his instructor teach him the licks of the masters and then learned by playing in public how to melt these licks together with his own style and that's how Jorden has came to be what he is today. Jorden is currently studying with master guitar player Dave Curtis or Dr.Dave as he is known. He has been studying more Jazz Guitar and is becoming even more technically advanced than he already was. So next time you see Jorden play keep an eye on his technical ability you will be impressed. Also Jorden has fallen heavily under the influence of Chris Duarte, if you get a chance check out Chris.
BIO: Hey, y'all! Eric "Mista" Blackmore, guitar and vocals, here. I started playing way back in November of 1982, deeply under the spell of Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. From Eddie, I got an interest in Clapton and Cream, and from there, all things bluesy. From Randy, I gained a sense of the importance of being well-rounded as a musician and a passion for learning everything I could about music.
I got my first gig as a working musician shortly after high school and within a year, I was in my first touring club band. Got to see alot of the the West Coast, the Pacific Northwest and Alaska in the four years I spent working with No Justice and Hippie Yard Dawgs (H.Y.D.).
I've called the Pike's Peak Region home for the last nine years or so, and played with various local acts including Cadillac Jack, Fat Time, The Voodoo Hawks and Blue Reign before fronting The Rhythm Method. I met Jorden through a mutual acquaintence, area drum god Art Noble, and it's been my pleasure and good fortune to work with him ever since. He is, quite simply, one of the finest young talents I have ever met.
In addition to my work with Jorden, I also perform with a few other great local acts, including Little Robbie Graham. I have also been teaching guitar five days a week at Graner School Music for the last six years. I'm very honored to be afforded the opportunity to be part of such a fine musical community.
These days, I consider my main influences to be Robben Ford, Jimmy Nolen, Freddie King, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, Paul Gilbert and Jimmy Herring, as well all the great local players I've had the privelege to know and work with (Little Robbie, Wayne Hammerstadt, John McDaniel and the man hisself, Jorden). My musical goals are to put as much soul, groove and personality as I can into every note I play and sing.
special thanks to Jessica Persing.
