The Cold war and the CIA


The CIA stands for Central Intelligence Agency. It is an independent agency of the United States government responsible for collecting and coordinating activities that has to do with the United States. The CIA came to be after Pearl Harper was bombed in 1942. President Franklin Rosevelt set up the CIA. He formed this organization because the United States needed an agengy other than the FBI to do secret spy work.
The Cold War took place between the United States and USSR. Germany was divided into four zones which were ocupied by the United States, Britain, France, and USSR. In 1949 the United States, Britain, and France joined their zones together which formed West Germany. USSR continued to control Eartern Germany including the capital Berlin. Germany became the focus of the Cold War.
Some of the activities that the CIA had to perform during the Cold War were to spy on Berlin, figure out the weaknesses of the enemies, and report back to the United States government with the information found.The CIA involvement benefitted the United States because it provided us with the information on what we needed. It provided us with the acurate events that went on in the Cold War. The USSR was involved directly with the Cold War. This is because the USSR was part of the war.
