Recent Torture Incidents in the United States US

These events happened June, July of 2002 as related by the survivor.

On the Outskirts of Washington,DC after
Exiting towards Roanake, VA, June, July, 2002

I traveled towards the outskirts of Washington, D.C., and took an exit for Roanoke, Virginia. I continued driving, expecting the exit to become suburbs, but was met with a oval driving structure,a racetrack-like facility. I continued circling as my car was surrounded by what appeared to be undercover white police cars and white unmarked social service cars.

It was evening, and my late model car performed well. If I drove fifty the cars maintained and kept abreast, and iff I drove faster, they increased their speed, surrounding my car.

Why didn't they signal to pull me over? What was this racetrack-like structure? There was no visible off ramp or means of exiting.

The intent of these cars did not bode well to me. The thought occured to me that when I ran out of gas, they would make contact. What type of contact would they attempt making?

Instead of running out of gas on this peculiar driving structure, I maintained my speed at around fifty, and prepared to exit by driving over a cement barrier about fifteen inches high.

I successfully drove over the barrier, proceeding across an open field, towards the only paved road in sight. I made the paved road across a field of grass, hitting what appeared to be a small observation car parked at the end. The car radiator was damaged and I exited my car. Seeing no one around, I started walking.

A policeman tackled me, throwing me to the ground. I was then walked to a car, with a female officer. My id and the incident was written up by her, and a group of plain clothesed people as well came and viewed me. No one mentioned the race track facility.

I was transported to a large, austere, barred jail entry. There I was told that I was to be given a physical. I was taken to a hospital at a semi-basement entrance.

I was led to a small bare room with a with a small grilled window in the door, one bare overhead light, and a closet door. There was a pallet and one sheet by the closet door. I was told to put on a short hospital gown and my clothes were taken from me. A man in a police uniform placed a cylinder in the closet area next to the door and turned on gas. As I noticed the gas escaping under the door, I stuffed the sheet under the door to prevent the gas from entering.

I stood at the door with a small grilled window, afraid to lay down. As I was looking out this window, a red headed man in his 40's or 50's, was wheeled into view on a metal hospital table, both legs just below the knee were amputated. Accompanying him was a woman in a nurse's uniform, who held up prosthetic legs. This "show the prosthetic legs" scene was repeated all night. I shouted my name and social security number and "Let me go...., this is not a hospital..!!"

The redheaded man's eyes were open, and they watched me all night as I yelled. In the morning, a group (5 or 6) of uniformed police arrived. I was told to put on my clothes and was lifted horizontally by a small group of policeman to a patrol car. I was driven to an outpatient mental facility. There were no doctors attending, only staff. My shoes are taken. I was shown a "quiet" room.

I am Transported to Several Outpatient Facilities

The next day, I was picked up by a man and woman in police uniforms, with my hands cuffed, and placed in the back of their patrol car. They did not speak to me, but rode me about town as if on a "joy ride", stopping to have hamburgers. Again, I told them that they should let me go.

I was returned to the facility. The next day I was picked up by a female patrol officer. I was then driven to MCV Hospital's mental outpatient clinic. I was walked inside, and my paperwork, a parking ticket, was given to the desk. Again, my shoes were taken. I was not able to leave on my own.

I did not consult with a psychologist. A foreign doctor reviewed my medicines by questioning me. He misunderstands my comment that reserpine is good and suggested I take reserpeze. Again, no one discusses the facility, the hospital, traffic ticket, or the reason I am here.

These facilities, from what I could observe, seemed to serve as holding facilities, particularly for the homeless, or those in transit.

I was questioned as to how you are doing as the doctor makes rounds and was told I was doing well enough to return home if I had a home to return to. In this fashion I left with the intent to never return.
