The Talented Beyonce Knowles

Beyonce Knowles was born on September 4th, 1981 in Houston, Texas to Matthew and Tina Knowles as the first born of two girls. Beyonce showed her talent at singing before the age of seven years old. When Beyonce was seven, she was already attending dance school and was a soloist in the church choir.
Along with her childhood best friends LaTayia Roberson, Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett, Beyonce began performing at local functions during her teenage years. The girls, known at the time as "Girl's Tyme", tried their luck on the TV show Star Search but did not make the cut. At this time, Beyonce's dad quit his steady job to commit his time to managing and promoting the group. To this day Matthew Knowles manages his daughter's career.
After trying a few different names, the girls settled on Destiny's Child. The musical debut for Destiny's Child was the song "Killing Time", which appeared on the soundtrack for the movie"Men in Black" which was released in 1997. In 1998 the group achieved a number one single with "No, No, No Part 2". The group became a trio later on that same year with the departure of LeToya and LaTayia, who decided to pursue individual careers.Destiny's Child shrank that same year when LeToya left the group to pursue a solo career. The group went on though to achieve greater success with 2000 seeing four Hot 100 Number One singles on the Billboard charts and two albums that each reached number one.
Destiny's Child's next album also was met with tremendous success, including singles like "Bug A Boo", "Jumpin' Jumpin', and "Say My Name". The single "Say My Name" received two Grammy awards in 2001. After that album, Destiny's Child produced another album, "Survivor", which included hits like the title track and the single "Bootylicious". The band decided to break up in the year 2005 but by then had shown themselves to be one of the top selling female groups ever.
Prior to that time though, Beyonce had already clearly shown her talens and abilities as a vocalist and as a songwriter. Beyonce received the 2001 Songwriter of the Year, awarded by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers Pop Music Awards. Beyonce was the first African-American female to receive the award and only the second female to win it. During this time, Beyonce also worked on several solo projects, though these were not as well-received as the earlier Destiny's Child projects.
The release of her first solo album, "Dangerously In Love", saw Beyonce return to her success with the album reaching the top selling album with over 300,000 copies sold in the first week alone.. The album's initial single "Crazy In Love" reached the top of the charts immediately as well and remained there for 8 weeks. Later that year Beyonce's album and single topped the charts at the same time putting her on the same level as such artists as The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Rod Stewart. Beyonce was and still is the only female artist to have accomplished this feat.
The next year, 2004, Beyonce won five Grammy Awards for her debut album.
In conjunction wih Beyonce's 25th birthday she released her second solo album, "B'Day", which eclipsed her first album's sales numbers, selling more than half a million copies in the first week alone. B'Day's first singl went on to also reach number one on the US R&B charts.
In late 2008, she put out her next album, unleashing her alter ego in the title of the album "I Am....Sasha Fierce".
The talent and ability shown by Beyonce has won her a universe of fans, all of who are looking forward to what the future holds for her.
