The Power Of His Name In Healing
Mark 11:23-26
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

HEALING IS THE CHILDREN'S BREAD
Two years to live“ Your wife is in a serious condition, she needs an operation,” the doctor gravely informed Jesse Padayachee
For three months Cookie Padayachee
had experienced continual headaches.
Despite taking the strongest medication she could get from the chemist, the headaches continued to grow worse. Any lights caused the head pains to increase, and she spent many hours sitting or lying with her eyes closed. The Padayachees had emigrated from South Africa to Melbourne in March 1988.
Three months later Cookie gave birth to their second child, David. They already had a five year old girl, Anneline. Jesse, a qualified Motor Mechanic and Process Engineer, soon established himself a Motor Mechanics business. Cookie, a qualified school teacher decided to stay home and rear up the two children as they had to make many adjustments in settling into Australia. The business prospered and the family soon settled into this new way of life in this vast and beautiful country.Sadly this was not to last very long.
On 2nd August 1989 Jesse was devastated by the death of his father in South Africa. He had undergone a major brain operation to remove a tumour, but had not regained consciousness
Ten days after surgery, he went home to be with the Lord whom he loved and served. Jesse’s trials were only beginning. The day after his dad’s death, Cookie suddenly started experiencing headaches.” I didn’t think it was serious,” Cookie recalls.
Ithought it was stress of having a new baby and adjusting to the life in this new land.” But the headaches persisted and grew worse. One day in October 1989, Jesse returned home early from work. While on the road, he felt that he had to go home. Upon arriving home at midday, he found the doors unlocked and Cookie still in her nightdress, almost unconscious. David, now 16 month old, was in her arms and virtually dehydrated.
Petrified Jesse rushed them both to the nearest doctor.
Taking a look at Cookie he advised Jesse to immediately take her to the specialist, who in turn admitted her to the local hospital.
David was also hospitalised in the same hospital, where numerous tests were done on him to ensure that he didn’t develop epilepsy or any other sickness. Having no immediate family in Australia, Jesse was devastated. He refused permission for David to have a Lumber –Punch, but rather stayed and prayed with him till late at night. Two days later, David was fully recovered and discharged. But things were not so good with Cookie.
She remained in hospital for ten days during which she was administered the strongest medication to ease these unbearable headaches.
“ My head seemed as if it was about to explode” Cookie recollects. After those ten days in hospital, Cookie was advised to have Cat Scans and then report to the specialist. “Something is wrong”, the specialist exclaimed upon seeing them. “On the right temporal lobe of the brain, there is a donut shaped tumor measuring about 1.5 cm in diameter. It is a solid tumor, having the same density of the skull and I am afraid this is a very serious operation.” What are her chances of survival if she does have this operation?”Jesse asked, filled with anxiety. “There is a fifty percent chance of her dying while having the operation, but if she does survive, whether operated or not she will live as a ‘vegetable’ for only about two years and then she will die,” the specialist replied.
Visibly shaken by the news they had just received, they decided to seek God’s guidance as to what action they should take. “Don’t take too long,” the specialist told them after hearing of their decision. “She could die anytime now—it is very serious.”
“Get me the best neuro-surgeon,” Jesse informed the specialist the next morning. “I want to talk to him.” “It won’t be easy to get the best, but I’ll try,” was his reply. Without wasting anytime, he was on the phone, trying to get this renowned neuro-surgeon to talk to the Padayachees about the seriousness of Cookie’s problem. An appointment was made for the next day.
“Operation! Operation! Operation!!! Your wife needs an operation, or else she will die,” yelled the neuro-surgeon at them as they entered his room. “ She could die while I am talking to you — that’s how serious it is! Why are you wasting your time in deciding?”
“I need to know more about the operation,” Jesse stated. “I thought your specialist already explained it to you!” the neuro-surgeon screamed angrily at Jesse. “Yes, he did, but I want to hear it from you also. This is no minor operation — it involves my wife’s life,” Jesse tried to reason with him. With clenched fists and his temper flaring, the neuro-surgeon angrily accused Jesse of depriving his wife of her life. This was too much for Cookie and she burst into tears. Turning to her, he softly changed his voice and said: “If you need any legal help, I will help you, for this husband of yours is depriving you of your life.”
Knowing how much Jesse loved her, she looked at the neuro-surgeon with tears streaming down her face and spoke softly, words that would change their lives forever:
“I am going to trust my Lord Jesus Christ for my healing. You can only assure me of a fifty percent chance of living, while I know, Jesus Christ gives me one hundred percent chance of survival. I know that He is able to heal, because He said it in His word — the Bible.”“Go and trust your Jesus, but if He doesn’t heal you, then don’t come back to me,” the neuro-surgeon ordered as he opened the door and swiftly let them out. Now Jesse and Cookie realised that they had put their total trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for Cookie’s healing.
Both Jesse and Cookie come out of Hindu backgrounds. Cookie became a Christian in 1974, when the Lord healed her dad. Jesse abandoned his Hindu faith in 1963, when his sister was born with a leaking heart and a growth on her windpipe. After all the Hindu rituals and prayers performed by Jesse’s great-grandfather, the Brahmin priest in the Hindu temple, the baby’s condition worsened. In desperation, Jesse’s mother, sought the help of a pastor, who prayed for the dying infant. Immediately, the baby was totally healed. Having experienced healings and miracles in both their families, Jesse and Cookie realised that with the Lord Jesus Christ nothing was impossible. They continued to fast and pray for Cookie’s healing, but the headaches continued to increase. Having no family in Australia, they decided to go back to South Africa to be near families as Jesse couldn’t cope with caring for their two little children and also operating a mechanic business, which he eventually quit to care for Cookie as her condition deteriorated. In December 1990, they returned to South Africa.
While in South Africa, Jesse and a very dear friend fasted and prayed — the friend asked for directions from the Lord as to whether to continue in his secular work as an Electronics Engineer or to preach the gospel full-time. Jesse fasted and prayed for the Lord to heal Cookie. On the first Sunday in 1991, Jesse and his dear friend, accompanied by Jesse’s mother, attended an early morning church meeting. This particular church was not the normal one Jesse, his mother or friend attended — so the pastor had no idea what Jesse or his friend’s needs were.
Cookie was unable to attend church because of severe headaches, which hindered her from getting up in the mornings.During the worship part of the service, the pastor suddenly stopped the meeting and addressed the congregation. He told them, “I have a word from the Lord for two young men here today. While I was in prayer at 3 o'clock in the morning the Lord gave me a vision of these two young men”. First he had a word for Jesse’s dear friend, “Continue seeking the Lord and in due course God will give you the direction you desire.” The pastor then looked at Jesse and said,” Forget your plans and arrangements you have made to remain in South Africa -you must return to Australia for your blessing awaits you there”.
The struggles Jesse experienced in Australia when Cookie became sick did not make him want to return. So instead Jesse started thinking about plans to remain in South Africa. “I have a block of land here in South Africa, some money in the bank and my inheritance from my late uncle. I will stay here until Cookie recovers or till she dies. Then, maybe I will return to Australia”, he thought. The pastor suddenly had a word of knowledge from the Lord and stopped the meeting once again. Looking at Jessie, he related to all that he was thinking about at precisely that moment, “Forget the money you have in the bank, the land you own in South Africa and your inheritance. Return to Australia, for your blessing awaits you there’’ Jesse sat down once again and quietly said to the Lord, “Lord if you will only heal Cookie,, I will return to Australia. You only know how traumatic it is living with a sick, dying wife and having no family in an unfamiliar, far away country. Please, Lord, heal her.’’ As the service progressed, Jesse suddenly thought about a dream he had in 1977, when he qualified as a motor mechanic. In this dream, Jesse owned a huge service station and the money that he was making in this business was being channelled to help missionaries preaching in the East. “Lord, I will fulfil this dream in South Africa now” he thought.
Suddenly the pastor stopped the meeting for the third time. This time he looked Jesse straight in the eyes and with authority said,
“The Lord has spoken once, twice and for the third and final time, return to Australia for your blessing awaits you there! ”The pastor went on further to relate the dream that Jesse had.
“You are not going to fulfil this dream, or send missionaries to the East. You are going to go yourself as a missionary to Australia”.
Obediently Jesse harkened to the voice of the Lord and returned home to tell Cookie what had happened in Church. At first she wouldn't accept it, but after confirmation from both Jesse’s mum and friend, she finally agreed to return to Australia. However, Jesse’s friend noticed the drugs lying on the bedside drawer and upon closer examination declared her to be no better than a “drug addict.”These medications are not ordinary painkillers -they are very strong drugs, if you can’t trust God to heal headaches, how will you trust him if it is cancer?” he inquired, not knowing of her brain tumour. “I challenge you to trust God for your healing, rather than depend on these so-called painkillers. When everyone had left the room, Cookie managed to struggle to the bathroom, where she flushed down all the drugs. Now she had placed her total trust in the Lord Jesus.” If He doesn't heal me then I am going home to be with Him, but I know that he is able to deliver me from this brain tumour,” she always maintained.
The family returned to Australia in February1991. The pain increased and became so extreme that Cookie thought she was going to die.” I realised we were close to the two years the doctor had said would be the longest I could hope to live. The pain became so intense that I couldn't stand any light, sound or even Jesse and the children. I was virtually isolated. Jesse couldn't even share the same bed with me, as any movement would trigger off these headaches. For almost six months, Jesse often slept in the lounge, with his Bible and as his constant companion.”
On the late afternoon of 25th September 1991, Jesse rushed Cookie back to the doctor. Her condition had worsened and there was nothing Jessie could do. “Please help her,” Jessie begged the doctor. After discussing our faith and experiences of the last two years with the doctor, he replied: “It is obvious that Jesus has not healed her, therefore, take her home and if she survives tonight, we will have an emergency operation tomorrow.”
Sadly, they returned home, knowing that if Jesus didn't heal her, Cookie was going to die. About seven o'clock that evening, Jessie brought their two children into the bedroom to pray with Cookie and to wish her goodnight or even goodbye for the last time. After praying and hugging them for maybe the last time, Cookie feebly instructed Jesse, “to bring up our children in the ways of the Lord, and there would be no operation tomorrow, but I would rather trust in the Lord totally in life and in death”
After tucking them into bed, Jesse returned to Cookie and found that her skin had turned yellow, her jaw twisted, her eyes virtually popping out of their sockets, her tongue hanging out of her mouth drooping with saliva, and she was almost paralysed on the left side. “Preach the gospel”, she struggled to say, “I am going home tonight, but you must preach the gospel.” Suddenly a most unusual and unpleasant odour filled the room. Closing the bedroom door behind him, Jesse ran into the lounge and fell on his face and cried to the Lord. “I don’t want to see her die, Lord: She wants me to preach the gospel, but what am I going to preach? Your Word says that you are the same Yesterday, Today and Forever and You are the Lord that healeth us. She always believed that you were going to heal her, but now she is dying. I know you never fail Lord.,” he sobbed uncontrollably.“Suddenly there was a presence in my lounge room,” Jesse further relates. “Someone was there but 1 couldn’t see Him. Now I know it was the Spirit of the Lord. I became scared as I felt His awesome presence. Then it was as if someone wrote on my lounge room wall. John
10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal and to kill and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Staring at these words Jesse couldn’t accept that the thief would rob him of his wife. He was brought up to believe that as a Christian, the thief (Satan) had no hold over him.
The scripture on the wall vanished and he continued praying. Suddenly a second scripture appeared on the wall.
Acts 10:38: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all those that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.” The word ‘oppressed’ seemed to stand out from the rest of the words. “She can’t be oppressed Lord, — she is a Christian” Jesse questioned. This was what he had been taught. The same thing happened again as the scripture vanished and he continued praying. Within minutes the third scripture Proverbs 4:20-23 appeared on the wall: ‘My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the
