Michael Jordan was born February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. As a kid, Michael liked to play baseball. He even had a no hitter one game. Even then, he did not know that he was going to be a Professional Basketball Player. When he grew older, he started to like basketball. His freshman and sophomore year in High School he tried out for the Varsity basketball team, but did not make the basketball team that was one of his hardest losses was that. Soon he recovered from it and started to work harder on becoming even better at basketball that was not going to get in his way of becoming very good.
Michael went to College at North Carolina. There he made the basketball team, and dominated the game of basketball. North Carolina made it to the NCAA Championship, and won because of Michael Jordan. In 1982, he sunk the game winning shot as a freshman at the end of the game to beat the other team. In 1984 he was named the NCAA Rookie of the year this was just one of his great accomplishments. That same year Michael Jordan went with the United States to win the Olympic gold medal that year which they did so. He also returned there in 1992 with the same results.
He was drafted to the Chicago Bulls as the number three pick. As a 6’6” 198 pound Guard, he was ready for the all the great basketball players that played. Michael’s tong in the air when he is playing says he got it from his dad when he use to always do that. Michael Jordan also wears his North Carolina shorts under his Chicago Bulls shorts for good luck.
He earned his name “Air Jordan” by his air that he got when he dunked the ball and his amazing shooting abilities. In 1985, his rookie year he earned Rookie of the year. Then in 1987 and 1988 he won the slam-dunk contest with his spectacular dunk from the foul line he got a perfect score of 50 for that dunk. He also led Chicago to three National Championships in 1991, 1992, and 1993. In which all of them he had Finals MVP award. Michael also his Rookie year boosted two organizations Nike and the NBA. People just loved Michael they loved to see him perform on T.V. or to watch him inside the stadium. Then Michael Jordan started to fall with a rumor of a gambling addiction. Then something hit him. The day that his father died shot and found dead in his car. Michael retired after the 1993 season, and after winning the NBA Championship.
When the spring of 1994 rolled around Michael Jordan had a new, challenge Professional Baseball. He had not really played baseball a lot since his years in High School. The former basketball player started playing for the Birmingham Barons. A minor league class AA team. Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. He enjoyed the time that he had on the ball field. He remembers sharing the dream with his dad about playing in the Major Leagues.
After one season with the Barons Michael Jordan was through with baseball. So he then retired from another sport. He then took the winter off. Michael then surprised everyone when he made a remarkable return to basketball just in time for the 1995 NBA playoffs. Although that championship eluded him, Jordan came back with a heart and soul ready to play in 1996. He led the Chicago Bulls to a record season. They still hold the record for best season. With a record of 72-12, and was named the league's Most Valuable Player for the fourth time. When the season ended he was ready for the playoffs, and it showed when the won the Championship for their fourth World Championship in six years. After the World Title was won, Michael Jordan dedicated the win to his father, which was of Father’s Day. One month later, Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf rewarded his star player Michael Jordan by signing Jordan to the largest one-year contract in the history of professional sports.
He then went on to win two more World Championships in the next two years with a total of six National Championships.
Michael Jordan was Finals MVP in all of those titles, and had the record of 41.0 points per game in the finals.
Then after the 1998 season Michael Jordan retired, and has not since returned to the game. Although he does own part of the Washington Wizards, and he still practices with them at practices.
