IOSL was incorporated in 1993 as a specialist maintenance company, responding to the requirements of operating companies that wished to concentrate on core business and enter into agreements with contractors for the maintenance of major assets in the production line.
The combined oil and gas industry experience of Chairman Henry MacPepple and Managing Director David Lodge spans three decades, their understanding of the market, skilled business management ability and engineering expertise identified the shortfall in specialist maintenance services, this knowledge brought about their decision to form IOSL in 1993.
The reluctance of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) to set up their own service operations in oil producing areas of West Africa predicted the need for IOSL to secure alliance agreements with key OEM's either as distributors or their exclusive agent.
IOSL bring an important concept to equipment suppliers and end users, added value with Planned Maintenance, the direct availability of spare parts with a short supply chain from OEM to end user.
Training of equipment operators reduces the possibility of user error and ensures that down time is held to the minimum possible level. IOSL offer training courses on all equipment we supply, our training school facility in Port Harcourt has seen the numbers of students grow consistently during the past five years.
Nigeria is the largest oil and gas producing country in West Africa. Since the early fifties many European and American production companies has invested millions of dollars to develop facilities in Nigeria, with current production levels in excess of two million barrels of crude oil each day. The country continues to present opportunities for growth and business development.
IOSL decided to concentrate initial resources in Nigeria and capitalise on opportunities in this vast market, our first operational base was established in Port Harcourt. In October 1993 the specialist services workshops were opened and we became the first contractor to carry out the major overhaul of a complete pump skid package for Shell.
Subsequent contracts for installation, field maintenance and major overhaul of production equipment consolidated our position as the leading service provider in this specialist field, quality with guaranteed results superseded promises as our reputation became established.
