New Quest Films, LLC is a California company formed on September 8, 2003 by Writer, Producer, and Director Don Abernathy to create, develop, and produce universally themed, high-concept, medium to low budget movies and special-interest projects.

By utilizing an internal star making formula with emerging talent, plus low cost celebrity “B” list actors with credible status who are attracted to strong dramatic material, in addition to securing emerging recording stars who add market value to a film’s soundtrack, we are able to produce content that competes with projects that have considerably higher budgets. This formula was proven successful through the recenlty completed "Tournament of Dreams" (see IMDB.com for details)

We also intend to exploit appropriate ancillary markets such as clothing, comic books, animation, novels, posters, and toys through the licensing of our product. Filmmaking Philosophy: To produce low cost, strong visual and dramatic quality with universal themes, then sell high. It's a WIN-WIN-WIN situation; Investors see a strong return in both the theatrical and DVD/Video markets, Celebrity Talent benefits in back in participation, and we make and really great film!

Objectives

The objectives of New Quest Films are as follows:

1. To produce profitable genre films like Area 51: Alien Breed (Filming March 2005) that will be exploitable to a mass audience.
2. To produce an increasing number of films in each successive year.
3. To develop scripts written by talents of the Writer-Director-Producer.
4. To distribute our films through independent distribution companies.

There is a need and a hunger for the science-fiction/horror/action genre. The fans of this genre cannot get enough. Witness the growth of the “high-concept film” in recent years. Pop culture is the rule of the day. Monsters, comic book heroes, special-effects, and extreme action are the accepted norms.

We can produce exciting films like Area 51: Alien Breed with notable celebrities starting as low as $5,500,000 without sacrificing quality. We will utilize the power of strong dramatic storytelling which attracts celebrity actors in order to achieve this.
We will exploit the power of the digital filmmaking revolution in order to achieve this. By shooting digitally, our costs will be significantly lower. Editing and compositing will be done digitally on computer. Special-effects and animation will also be created digitally. Expensive-looking effects can be created relatively quickly and cost-effectively.

How does the Investor MAKE MONEY?

As an investor, when you put money into New Quest Films for the expressed purpose of producing Area 51: Alien Breed or any other film, you are purchasing a percentage of the company. At the end of the fiscal period, profits paid from the film’s distributor will be figured and dispersed between the company, and the stock holders, which includes both investors and the managing members.

How much of a return can you expect for each film?

Every distribution deal is different. However, after speaking with a number of distribution companies, we have determined that the average return on a low budget project of the caliber of Area 51: Alien Breed can be anywhere from $10,000,000 to $30,000,000 million over the film’s life cycle. When you take into account that the costs to produce these films are in the $5,000,000 range, the profit margin is quite high.

Keep in mind that this does not include emerging markets and new media technologies that may occur which will increase the investor’s profit sharing.

The Industry

According to Video Business Magazine, sales of DVDs and VHS tapes in 2002 totaled $12.1 billion dollars. Of that, $1.3 billion was for product from small studios and small distributors. Rentals of DVDs and VHS tapes in 2002 totaled $8.2 billion dollars. Of that, almost $500 million dollars was for product from small independent studios. Total sales and rentals were $20.3 billion dollars. That is just the direct-to-consumer market via retail and movie-rental stores domestically. Additional monies can be realized in the sale and licensing of exhibition and broadcast rights to the television and cable markets. There’s more to be made through all of these outlets in the foreign markets. International markets are gaining even greater strength than they had before. Independent films have been steadily gaining market share since the 1990s.
