Positive Atmosphere Reaches Kids
Developing Leaders
Our goal is to affect the total student: mentally, physically, and spiritually. By offering tutoring, recreation, and leadership development. P.A.R.K., gives kids a positive place to spend their time and keeps the off streets.
Mental development
The tutoring staff helps students in English, math, reading, science, history, social sciences, and foreign languages. In addition, we offer sessions in public speaking, writing research papers, and memory training.
Students spend at least one hour a day working on their home work in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazzette Learning Center, which also includes hte Custom Micro computer lab with 27 pentium workstations, Internet access, and the Charles A. Freueauff Foundation Library.
Physical Development
Once the kids finish their homework, they can choose from a variety of recreational activities. The 51,000 square foot building offers two basketball courts; a roller skating rink and sound system; a weight room with treadmills, free weights, and other equipment; and a game room equiped with pool tables and game systems. The center also has the Affiliated Foods Southwest snack bar and the Maybelline Positive Woman's Center for teaching young woman about good health, positive self-image, sexual responsibility, and violent prevention.
Spritual Development
Community service is an integral component of programming. Just as kids receive love and attention from others, they receive love and attention from others, they learn how to give the same in return. P.A.R.K. makes the concept of "giving" a two-way street through community service programs.
