FAMILY INTERVENTIONS WORK FOR ADULTS AND ADOLESCENTS!

How do I know if a family Intervention would help?

When you know that your loved one is experiencing a drug or alcohol problem. He/she will not admit to the use of drugs or alcohol. He/she refuses to get help, is hostile or nasty, isolating, demonstrates abnormal behaviors, or appears depressed.

It is time for your family to call for professional intervention assistance.

When you know that you have tried everything to get help for your loved one, with no success. When your family is suffering due to the destructive behaviors of your loved one. When you recognize that you can't do it by yourself, and need help. When you see your loved one harming him/herself.

We know that this is a very difficult time for families. You have tried everything from, reading about the problem, talking to your loved one, offering or bringing the person to seek help, given money to keep him/her out of trouble, found drugs or alcohol hidden around the house, noticed a lack of motivation, interests, irresponsible behaviors and other thought or behavior problems. What do you do when your loved one will not cooperate, denies the problem and refuses to accept help?

A PROFESSIONAL INTERVENTION CAN HELP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY RIGHT NOW!

We will conduct an intervention in your home, anywhere in the world, with your family members and the loved one. We, as a team, will let the troubled person know that we recognize certain behaviors that appear to be those of drug or alcohol use. We give loving, caring gentle support , without judging, condeming or shaming. The person is given choices regarding alternatives for help for his/her problem. If desired by the family and patient, we can admit him/her to treatment immediately and accompany the patient to our exclusive residential treatment and recovery program in beautiful Negril, Jamaica. We have success with difficult patients and those that have experienced chronic relapse.

PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS

Many patients experience complications of psychiatric disorders along with their addiction problems. Disorders such as depression, bi-pilor disorder, eating disorders, and a variety of other symptoms are evaluated by our clinical team to develop the most effective course of psychological and medical protocols. Each patient is educated in managing the symptoms of both their addiction and psychiatric disorder simultaneously. This clinical evaluation and treatment enables our patients to achieve success in recovery even after many unsuccessful attempts in the past.

POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER AND TRAUMA

The I.R.C. clinical staff specializes in treating early childhood and other traumas. It is common that patients with addictions experience significant trauma in their life that interferes with their recovery process. When these issues are not addressed and treated appropriately in the clinical setting, many patients experience addiction relapse. For many, trauma, whether conscious or unconscious is an underlying precipitating factor in their life-style dysfunction. Patients receive daily individual and group psychotherapy to reach the very core of their most sensitive treatment issues. This therapeutic milieu helps the patient to resolve the harmful and emotionally painful events in his or her life. Trauma therapy opens the door to successful recovery for many people who have experienced relapse following traditional treatment that addressed only addictions.

ADOLESCENT PROGRAM

Adolescents have many problems not encountered in the adult population. The program concentrates on the many emotional conflicts experienced by adolescents within the safe and loving tropical environment of our facility. Our adolescent specialists and caring clinical staff provide specific individualized attention to our adolescents daily, to help them work through these conflicts. Adolescents may feel abandonment, shame, guilt and feelings of being rejected or unloved and have turned to substance abuse to deal with these feelings. Our staff provides the nurturing clinical therapy that relieves the stress and feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness and allows our adolescent patient to resolve these feelings as they work through their emotional and addictive behaviors. The tropical setting along with its widely varied recreational activities are designed specifically for the high energy level of this particular population. The program only accepts ten patients at one time, which allows our adolescents the consistent individualized attention that they require.

FAMILY PROGRAM

We encourage our patient's family members to visit the program to explore the core issues that surround the chemical dependency or other destructive behaviors. Our clinical staff prepares the family members to realize the roles they play in the addiction and recovery process. As the whole family works through the goals of recovery, the opportunity for success of the patient, along with the emotional health of the whole family, is greatly enhanced. Patient's families are contacted regularly for clinical progress updates and encouragement to be involved in the clinical process.

INNOVATIVE AFTERCARE PROGRAMMING

Because our program attracts patients from around the world, we have developed the most innovative aftercare program that allows patients to continue their treatment after discharge in their home country. This is accomplished by using an interactive camera attached to the patient's personal home computer or laptop through the Internet. Patients receive weekly face to face aftercare sessions from anywhere in the world with their own therapist. Using this Internet technology promotes continuity of care and greatly enhances patient success. Patients and family members are also referred to therapists in their home country for further care and education, making the I.R.C. a truly international program. Family conferences are conducted in this way also, to assist the family members in dealing with recovery and other specific behavioral issues that may arise on a daily basis. Our clinical staff is available and dedicated to the health and well being of the entire family unit.
