Meditation Room
Learning to meditate sharpens your awareness, your concentration and helps long term memory. On health issues I have seen how it can help with blood pressure and stress. The tricky part is to make the mind slow down and do what it is told, because often the mind is like a spoilt child.
Brain Waves
Your mind has four set patterns, The first is Beta, which I hope you are in now, unless I have sent you to sleep. You are wide awake when you are in Beta, the brain cycles are then 14-30 cycles per second. The second is Alpha, this is a day dream like state in which the brain cycles are 7-14 cycles per second. The third is Theta, this is normally found when you are sleeping. Theta waves are 4-7 cycles per second. The fourth is Delta. Delta is the slowest of all the brain waves 4-0 cycles per second and this is reached when in deep sleep. When you are meditating your brain waves revert to Alpha 7-14 cycles per second. This detatches the brain from the body, resulting in a tranquil state. When our brain is in Beta it constantly proccess millions of peices of information, we have to concentrate this information into one focus. The meditation below will help with the first step into the world of your mind.
Firstly sit down on a straight backed chair. The idea of meditation is not to sit too comfortable and not too uncomfortable. Do not lie down as you will probably fall asleep and defeat the object.

Inner Self
Take three deep breathes - in - out - in - out- in - out
You feel relaxed and safe
You find yourself walking in a garden. This is the garden you always wanted. Begin to walk slowly down the garden. Are there flowers, trees or shrubs? Have you got a pond, a lake, are there any ducks or swans? Hear the birds singing high above in the blue sky. Feel the warm sun on your face.
As you walk you become aware of a gate. You walk toward the gate and open it. You walk through the gate. There just down the path you see a building. As you approach the building you see that the key is in the door. You turn the key and the door opens. Step inside. The decoration inside is very pleasing to you, just how you would have decorated it. You feel welcome and comfortable here. Everything is just perfect.
Sit down in the middle of the floor, enjoy this wonderful place and this wonderful perfect feeling.
You hear a voice calling your name very softly. This voice is warm and sincere. This is your Inner Self. Let your Inner Self know you are listening. Explain that you wish to get to know your Inner Self better. Ask for advice and guidance on any situation. If there are any questions that you have, and your Inner Self cannot answer them at this point in time, know that your Inner Self will explain why it cannot give you the explaination you require.
Now your Inner Self tells you that it is time to leave and return to the physical world. Know that you can return to this place at anytime you wish, know that your Inner Self is always there to talk to you.
As you get up from the floor and walk to the door, you see a gift for you on the floor. This is a personal gift, it is related to the conversation you have just had with your Inner Self. Pick the gift up and take it with you.
As you leave close and lock the door. Walk back through the gate, back into the garden, holding your gift in your hand. Begin now to walk back up the garden.
You are now back where you started.
Breathe in - out - in - out - in - out
Wiggle your fingers and toes, slowly open your eyes.
