H.E.L.P. - Hainan Education Language Program
Our organization, the International Education Exchange Association, Inc., or IEEA, is a non-profit organization with the goal to assist the education efforts of Hainan. We can assist western experts in finding a job in Hainan and we can assist western students in finding placement in a school where they can study Mandarin. We are located on the campus of the Haikou College of Economic and Technique in Haikou City.
The IEEA can introduce Western teachers or schools to Hainan and introduce Chinese students to Western countries. If you are interested in teaching in Hainan, please provide the following:
1. A scanned copy of your diploma.
2. A scanned copy of your passport.
3. A scanned copy of any ESL certificates you might hold.
4. Provide two letters of recommendations. Send as an attached word document.
5. Provide an up to date resume.

Benefits to Western Teachers
Hainan's Provincial policies request that schools and colleges of Hainan to provide the following benefits to western experts coming to China:
1. Salary - 3500 to 4500 yuan. Depends on education and experience.
2. Round trip airfare after teaching one full year.
3. Accomodations that are reasonable for western living. Kitchen, living room, bedroom, and western toliets. Air condition is provided for only one room and a telephone is provided for the apartment. Each room is provided with simple furnishings that are adequate.
4. Summer holiday is usually four weeks. This is negotiable and it is up to the western expert to disuss this issue with the school before signing the contract and to have it included in the appendix of the contact.

I. Admission Qualifications
1. Language Student:
Student who is well behaved and in good health may apply for the admission to the corresponding classes according to his ability or level of understanding of Chinese.
2. Undergraduates:
The applicant, who is a high school graduate and capable of studying his/her specialized courses in Chinese, is well behaved and in good health, can apply for admission of undergraduate to Hainan College of Vocation and Technique (home of the IEEA). Acceptance is decided by selection after a screening process. If s/he is not capable of studying his/her specialized courses in Chinese, s/he is first expected to study Chinese for one year, and then continue his/her undergraduate studies after passing the HSK test.
3. General Advanced Students:
The applicant should have already completed undergraduate studies. S/he should be in good health and well behaved. If s/he is not capable of studying his/her specialized courses in Chinese, s/he is first expected to study Chinese for one year, and then continue his/her original studies after passing the HSK test.
II. School-open Date, Application Procedures, Formalities for Visa to China and Registration
1. School-open Date
The academic year is divided into two terms. The first term begins on September 1st and the second term on mid February or early March.
2. Application Procedures: Applicants who would like to study at Hainan College of Vocation and Technique, home of the IEEA, may contact the IEEA by email or in person. The applicant should submit the following documents:
(1) "Application Form for Study at Haikou College of Economic and Technique".
(2) Duplicated copies of certificate of highest academic degree. A letter of recommendation from an expert is needed if the applicant applies for Senior Advanced Students.
(3) Copy of passport.
(4) Pay application fee for processing the application together with the application materials. Applications will not be processed without the payment.
3. Formalities for Visa to China: The successful applicant may obtain a Student Visa (X visa) from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate on presentation of the Letter of Admission, Visa Application for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China (JW202 Form), and the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners.
4. Registration:
(1) Students should arrive on time according to the registration time of "Letter of Admission".
(2) At the time of registration, students are requested to show their Letter of Admission, JW202 Form, Physical Examination Record, Passports, 8 photos (2 x 1 inch, half-length, full-faced and bare-headed) as well as pay tuition, registration, teaching materials and lodging fees for one year.
III. Standard Fees
1. Tuition Fees (per person)
Language student: Long-term US$ 1600/year, US$ 1000/term
Short-term US$ 75 /week
Bachelor's degree/General scholar: US$ 1800/year
2. Application Fee: US$ 30
3. Registration Fee: US$ 50
4. Teaching Material Fees: US$ 50/year
5. Accommodation Fees:
A. Foreign Students Building
a. Double Room: US$ 5 /day (air-conditioner, telephone, private washroom, hot-water machine)
b. Single Room: US$ 4 /day (air-conditioner, telephone, three students share a private washroom and hot-water machine)
All students share a color TV, refrigerators in a public living room and washing machines.
B. Long-term student (more than one month): US$ 5 /day (standard room: air-conditioned,hot-water machine and private washroom). If two people share it, they'll also share the expenses.
6. Water & Electricity Fees:
Water: To be announced at a later date.
Electricity: Free for public rooms. Charges for electricity of the room have to be taken care of by the students themselves.
7. Boarding Expenses:
There is a Students Cafeteria next to the Foreign Students Building. The food costs about US$2.5 per person per day. The expenses have to be paid by the students themselves.
Note: All fees should be paid in US$ or RMB when register. No refunds are available for withdrawal.
IV. Travel
Hainan is the most famous tropical landscape tourist spot in China. Located at the southern most tip of China, Hainan province has a tropical maritime climate with an annual average temperature of 22--26C. Sunlight, surf, beach, coconut palms, famous historical sites, the culture and customs of the minorities-all join to create a picturesque tropical island. Hainan is famed as "East Hawaii". Hainan is also the region where Li and Miao nationalities live in compact communities. The IEEA can arrange round-the-island tour for foreign students to enjoy the beautiful, tropical, coastal landscape and learn some folk customs. Students are required to pay the cost for the tour.
V. Note
During their stay in China, foreign students should observe the laws of the People's Republic of China, college regulations, and respect the habits and customs of the Chinese people.
