1978 Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 - Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins - Montreal lost only 10 regular season games enetring the playoffs and only needed 9 games to reach the Stanley Cup Finals where they once again would meet the Boston Bruins in a rematch of the 1977 Finals where they swept the boys from Boston in 4 straight. Game one would go the way of the Habs as they easily defeat the Bruins 4 to 1. This CBC broadcast is very good quality throughout.

1978 Stanley Cup Finals Game 2 - Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins - Game 2 would take a different turn as the Bruins increased the physical play and were able to force overtime in game 2 but as in many other games at the Forum in Montreal the Bruins continues as Guy LaFleur scores in the extra session to give the Habs a two games to none lead in the best of seven series. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality.

1978 Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 - Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins - The Bruins behind the coaching of Don Cherry come out for game 3 and put on a stellar effort shutting out the Canadiens four to nothing to cut the series lead in half. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality throughout.

1978 Stanley Cup Finals Game 4 - Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins - Game 4 would prove to be another great game as overtime was need for the second time in 4 games. The Bruins knowing that this was a must win to stay alive could make this a three game series with a win and thanks to Bobby Schmautz at 6:22 of overtime the series was now tied at 2. The Bruins had accomplished what many thought they couldn't do, come back from a two game defecit to tie the series. Thanks to great motivator Don Cherry the Bruins played above their heads and now were facing a best of three against the best team in the NHL. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality throughout.

1978 Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 - Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins - The Canadiens having lost only 10 regular season games and 1 in the playoffs prior to entering the Stanley Cup realized they had better not give the boy from Boston a chance, so they didn't as they effectively beat them at the Forum 4 to 1. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality throughout.

1978 Stanley Cup Finals Game 6 - Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins - Though the Bruins had managed two wins against the powerhouse Canadiens the bottom line was the Canadiens were a superior team pretty much in all aspects of the game and if they came to play they should defeat the Bruins. Well that's exactly what they did handling the Bruins with and easy 4 to 1 win. Conn Smythe winner Larry Robinson led all playoff performers with 17 assists and tied teamate Guy LaFleur for the overall lead with 21 points.

1979 Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 - Montreal Canadiens vs. New York Rangers - After coming off a terribly physical 7 game series with the Boston Bruins the Canadiens weren't up to facing the well rested New York Rangers. The Rangers beat the Canadiens 4 to 1 to take a one game to none lead in the best of seven series. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality.

1979 Stanley Cup Finals Game 2 - Montreal Canadiens vs. New York Rangers - Having one the last three Stanley Cups the seasoned veterans of the Canadiens woke up in game 2 and destroyed the Rangers 6 to 2. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality.

1979 Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 - Montreal Canadiens vs. New York Rangers - Going back to Madison Square Garden with a split the Rangers felt like they had a chance at their first Stanley Cup in nearly 40 years. Unfortunately the experienced and very talented Montreal Canadiens would not allow the Rangers a shot at glory and
defeat them in game three 4 to 1. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality.

1979 Stanley Cup Finals Game 4 - Montreal Canadiens vs. New York Rangers - Game four would pretty much be a repeat of game three as the Canadiens dominate the Rangers at the Garden and take a three games to one lead back to Montreal with a 4 to 1 win.

1979 Stanley Cup Finals Game 5 - Montreal Canadiens vs. New York Rangers - The Montreal Canadiens capture their fourth straight Stanley Cup championship to record the second longest streak of championships in NHL history. Only the Canadiens five year run from 1956 to 1960 lasted longer. This was also the first time since 1968 that the Canadiens had won the cup on home ice. At the conclusion of the series Ken Dryden, Jacques Lemaire and Yvan Cournoyer retired from the NHL. The trio had combined for 24 Stanley Cup championships. Coach Scotty Bowman won his 5th title in seven seasons behind the Canadiens bench. This would be the last game Bowman coached as a Canadien, Bowman moved on to coach the Buffalo Sabres. 1980 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 1 - Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders - Game 1 proved to be a real barn burner as the seasoned veterans of the Philadelphia Flyers were returning to the Stanley Cup Finals for the 4th time in 7 years while the Islanders were making their first appearance. The Islanders proved they deserved to be in the Finals giving the Flyers all they could handle. Game 1 would go into overtime and prove to be a huge game for the winner, at 2:08 of the first overtime session Flyers defenseman Jimmy Watson went off for a penalty giving the Isles a powerplay. Dennis Potvin would make NHL history becoming the first man to score a game winning overtime goal in the Stanley Cup Finals. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality throughout.

1980 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 2 - Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders - After a devastating loss at home in game one the Flyers had to rebound in game to for they surely didn't want to go back to the Nassau Colliseum down to games to none. Thanks to a stellar team effort the Flyers whitewash the Isles 8 to 3. Forward Paul Holmgren records his only playoff hat-trick to lead the Flyers to victory and tie the series at one game apiece.

1980 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 3 - Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders - Nassau Colliseum hosted the Islanders first ever Stanley Cup Finals game on May 17th, 1980. Behind a potent offense featuring Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier and stellar goaltending from Billy Smith the Islanders cruise to their first ever victory on home ice during the Stanley Cup Finals six to two. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality throughout.

1980 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 4 - Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders - After winning game 3 easily the confident Islanders dominate the Flyers again for the second straight game and cruise to a 5 to 2 victory and take a three games to one lead in the best of seven series. 1980 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 5 - Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders - Down three games to one with their backs against the wall the gritty Flyers behind veterans Bobby Clarke and Bill Barber avoid elimination with a 6 to 3 win sending the series back to the Coliseum on Long Islander down 3 games to 2. This CBC broadcast is complete and very good quality throughout.

1980 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 6 - Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders - Giving the Flyers life with a win in game five the Flyers had a feeling they could win game six and return to the storied Philadelphia Spectrum for game seven but as fate would have it the this game will go down in history as a win for the Islanders giving them their first Stanley Cup of four straight but it will always be protested by Flyers fans. Two goals, one allowed to count that was scored with a high stick and the other possibly the worst non call by an NHL linesman in the history of the game. Bobby Nystrom is the Islanders hero scoring the overtime game winner giving him four career overtime game winners for his career catapulting him into hockey history with only the grea Maurice "Rocket" Richard ahead with six. This CBC broadcast is complete and good to very good quality throughout containing extensive pre game and post game coverage.

1981 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 1 - New York Islanders vs. Minnesota North Stars - Behind 50 goal scorer Mike Bossy the heavily favored Islanders handle the Stars with ease 6 to 3.

1981 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 2 - New York Islanders vs. Minnesota North Stars - Game two would end with the identical score of game one. The overmatched Stars are out gunned from pillar to post as the Isles take a commanding two games to none lead.

1981 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 3 - New York Islanders vs. Minnesota North Stars - Reaching the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in the history of the franchise which entered the NHL for the 1967-68 campaign the Stars were very happy to be in the Finals. Game 3 would be a much closer affair as rookie sensation and future Hall Of Famer Dino Ciccarelli help the Stars to stay respectible scoring 5 goals against Billy Smith in a seven to five loss.

1981 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 4 - New York Islanders vs. Minnesota North Stars - With a three games to none lead you knew the Isles would try to coast their way to a four game sweep of the Stars, but the Stars would have something to say about it as they continued to search for a victory against the Islanders. They would achieve it in front of the sold out Met Center defeating the Islanders 4 to 2.

1981 Stanley Cup Finals - Game 5 - New York Islanders vs. Minnesota North Stars - Behind Billy Smith, Bobby Nystrom, Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier and many others the Islanders defeat the overmatched North Stars 5 to 1 to win their second consecutive Stanley Cup title. Mike Bossy shattered playoff records with points (35) and power play goals (9) in his 18 post season games. The Stars did have a bright young star in Dino Cicarelli who broke Don Maloney's rookie playoff record with 21 points.
