1980 Stanley Cup Semi-Finals, Game 4 Philadelphia Flyers vs. Minnesota North Stars - Bill Barber continues his destruction of the Minnesota North Stars with his second consecutive multi goal game, after scoring 4 goals in the previous game Barber scores a pair in game four to lead the Flyers over the feisty North Stars 3 to 2. With little time remaining and the goalie pulled the Stars put up a valiant effort but fail to tie the game at three. This is a fantastic game for Flyers fans and fans of great games. Good quality throughout this is the complete game.
1981 Playoffs, Game 7 Philadelphia Flyers vs. Calgary Flames - Behind a terrific goaltending effort from Pat Riggin the Calgary Flames defeat the Flyers on their home ice 4 to 1. This would become the only time in Flyers history that they would lose a game seven on home ice. This CBC broadcast is good quality throughout.
1980 Stanley Cup Semi-Finals, Game 4 Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Islanders - Down three games to none and with their backs against the wall Buffalo star Gilbert Perreault comes through in a big way leading the Sabres to a 7 to 4 victory over the New York Islanders scoring the only playoff hat trick of his career. This is a great game for Sabres fans! Good quality throughout this is the complete game.
1978 Stanley Cup Semi-Finals, Game 2 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens - Game two is a much better contest for Leaf fans as great goaltending from Mike Palmateer keeps things within range but the Leafs still can’t get by the best team in the league. The Canadians win this one 3 to 2 to take a two games to none lead in this best of seven series. This CBC broadcast is good quality throughout.
1978 Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, Game 1 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders - Mike Bossy and company storm out in game one and catch the Leafs by surprise handling them with ease in a 4 to 1 victory at the Nassau Coliseum and a one game to none lead in this best of seven series.
1978 Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, Game 2 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders - Rookie Mike Bossy beats Toronto net minder Mike Palmateer early in sudden death overtime to end a hard checking nailbiter at Nassau Coliseum and give the Isles a two to nothing lead in the best of seven series. Although New York finishes first in the Patrick Division with 111 points and third overall behind Montreal (129) and Boston (113), the young Isles still have a lot of growing to do. Led by tough guy Dan Maloney, Lanny McDonald and Swedish sensation Borje Salming the Leafs are implored by coach Roger Neilson to pound the Isles at every turn. Toronto eventually wins a brutal seven game series. Very good quality.
1978 Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, Game 3 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders - Down two games to none in the series and coming home after a heartbreaking overtime loss you had to wonder if the Leafs would be able to pull it together. Not only do they pull it together but a stellar performance from goaltender Mike Palmateer helps the Leafs to a two to nothing victory cutting the Isles lead in the series in half two games to one. This is a must for Leafs fans!, this CBC broadcast is complete very good quality.
1978 Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, Game 4 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders - A stellar goaltending performance from Mike Palmateer gives the Leafs a 3-1 win evening the series at two games apiece. This brutal series would eventually go the full seven games, if you're a serious collector of great games I would recommend all seven. Very good quality throughout this is the CBC broadcast.
1978 Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, Game 5 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders - “Mr. Islander” Bob Nystrom scores his first playoff overtime goal at 8:02 of sudden death to give the Isles a 3-2 series lead at Nassau Coliseum. Despite finishing 19 points behind New York in the regular season, the Maple Leafs frustrate the Isles’ vaunted power play throughout a brutal series, which turns personal after Mike Bossy is knocked unconscious on a vicious check from Jerry Butler near the end of game 6 at Maple Leaf Gardens. Without their leading sharpshooter, the Isles hold a 1-0 lead late in the seventh and deciding game, but the Leafs rally to tie late in regulation, then win the series in overtime when Lanny McDonald beats Glenn Resch on a partial breakaway. Very good quality throughout this CBC broadcast is complete.
1978 Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, Game 6 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders - With their backs against the wall the never say die Leafs come out and explode for 5 goals winning game 6 with ease 5 to 2. This was the most goals scored by one team in one game, feeling good about the series tied at 3 games apiece the Leafs would head back to Long Island for one of the greatest Leaf games in their storied history. This game is the CBC broadcast and is complete.
1978 Stanley Cup Quarter-Finals, Game 7 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders - Mike Palmateer enters the game with an incredible 1.83 GAA and is spectacular in game seven. This may be Mike’s finest performance in his career. Lanny McDonald scores one of the biggest goals of his career at 4:13 of overtime sending Toronto on to the next round to face the Montreal Canadiens. I recommend this game highly, this should be in every vintage hockey video collectors library. If you like great goaltending battles this is one of the best. Very good quality throughout and featuring extensive pre game and post game coverage.
1992-93 Regular Season 4/9/93 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Rangers - It would take eleven years to break the Islanders fifteen game consecutive winning streak, but boy did the Pens do it in style as they explode in the third period for five goals. Mario scores a hat trick in the second period and chips in with a deuce in the third for a five goal game. Joe Mullen scores a hat trick and Jaromir Jagr scores an awesome goal on a breakaway as the Pens destroy the Rangers on their home ice 10 to 4. Good quality throughout this is the Pittsburgh broadcast featuring Mike Lang.
1980 Playoffs, Game 1 New York Rangers vs. Atlanta Flames - This is one of the few games available with the Atlanta Flames. Steve Vickers is the hero for the Rangers ending this one early at just :33 seconds of overtime giving the Rangers the win and the lead in the best of three Preliminary Round series.
1977 Stanley Cup Semi-Finals, Game 2 Philadelphia Flyers vs. Boston Bruins - After getting to Lord Stanley's’ Cup for 3 consecutive years the Flyers efforts to get back to the big dance would be halted by a great Boston Bruins teams. The Bruins beat the Flyers in game one in overtime and much to the dismay of Flyers fans game two would once again require overtime to decide a winner. Going to two overtimes tough guy Terry O’Reilly would emerge as the hero of the game scoring the game winner at 10:07 of double overtime to give the Bruins a two games to none lead in the best of seven series with games 3 and 4 to be played at the storied Gardens in Boston. Good quality throughout this game is missing the opening face-off.
1982 Stanley Cup Semi-Finals, Game 3 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Islanders - After being destroyed in their first two games Penguins owner Eddie Debartalo offered anyone who wanted a refund to come and get it. Well 14 people took advantage of Ed’s offer and missed out on a fantastic game. 50 goal scorer Rick Kehoe is Pittsburgh’s shining night ending this one at 4:14 of the first overtime to cut the Islanders lead in half, two games to one. This is the complete broadcast and is very good quality throughout.
1981-82 Regular Season 2/13/82 Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Islanders - Bryan Trottier scores five goals enroot to setting an NHL record as the Islanders beat the Flyers at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Trottiers’ 5 goals including 4 in one period and 4 on the power play in one period will put him in the NHL record book forever. This is a must for Islander fans! Good quality throughout.
1965-66 Regular Season 12/18/65 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Rangers - A wild game from storied Maple Leaf Gardens as the Leafs defeat the Rangers 8 to 4 behind two hat-tricks, one from Dave Keon, the first of his career during regular season and the second coming from Bob Pulford who capped off the hat trick in the third period and a 4 goal explosion for the Leafs leading to the victory.
1967-68 Regular Season 11/4/67 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Rangers - It’s Johnny Bower vs. Eddie Giacomin in a showdown of future Hall Of Fame goaltenders. The Leafs prevail on their home ice 4 to 2. Red Kelly is the number 1 star of the game followed by number 2 star Ron Ellis, Johnny Bower is spectacular in net perfecting his poke check to drive opponents crazy. This is a must for vintage hockey video collectors.
1964-65 Regular Season 10/17/64 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins - It’s opening night at Maple Leaf Gardens and behind a great effort from Johnny Bower the Leafs route the Bruins 7 to 2. The Leafs entered the third period with a 3 to 1 lead thanks in part to rookie Ron Ellis’ first NHL goal. Frank Mahovlich picks up 3 points in the third period including 2 goals as the Leafs explode for 4 goals to ensure the route.
1982-83 Regular Season 3/21/83 Chicago Blackhawks vs. Minnesota North stars - Tony Esposito is in net for the Hawks and the announcers comment he’s the oldest player in the NHL at 40. Loaded with fights, this game features great goaltending, great checking, great scoring and one of my favorite bench clearing brawls started by Dennis Savard! Go figure.
1982-83 Regular Season 11/17/82 Chicago Blackhawks vs. New Jersey Devils - The Hawks behind a fantastic effort from 40 year net minder Tony Esposito beat a never say die opponent in the New Jersey Devils. Despite letting up 5 goals Chico Resch is awesome in net. Doug Wilson nets a pair for the Hawks. Great game for Esposito fans!
1994 Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals, Game 6 New Jersey Devils vs. Buffalo Sabres - Down in the series three games to two the Sabres come up with a huge victory against the New Jersey Devils in quadruple overtime. This is an absolutely fantastic game featuring two of the greatest goalies of all time, Martin Brodeur and Dominic Hasek. Hasek gets the victory with a one to nothing shutout.
1988 Wales Conference Finals, Game 4 New Jersey Devils vs. Boston Bruins (MOTHER'S DAY WALKOUT) - What a fantastic game! The Devils first run in the playoffs takes them all the way to the Conference Finals. Jim Schoenfeld, coach of the Devils had a run in with Don Koharski after game 3 in the runway going down to the locker room. It appeared that Koharski slipped but he said Schoenfeld pushed him………I don’t hink so. Jim told Don to “lose some weight you fat pig”…….needless to say Koharski was embarresed and Shoenfeld was suspednded by the NHL. He was never given a hearing by the NHL so the Devils got a restraining order from a judge which allowed Schoenfeld to coach. When the referees found out that he was allowed to coach they boycotted the game. The NHL was forced to use replacement referees and the game was delayed for 1 hour. This is a great game and a must for Devils fans! Sean Burke is great in net and there are some great fights.
1994 Eastern Conference Finals, Game 1 New York Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils - It’s Mike Richter vs. Martin Brodeur from the storied Madison Square Garden in New York. Stephane Richer is the hero for the Devils ending this one in double overtime giving the Devils a one game to none lead in the best of seven series. A must for all fans of great games!
1977-78 Regular Season 3/19/78 - Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs - It’s a great night for the Boston tough guys. Wayne Cashman scores his 18th goal of the season, Terry O’Reilly bangs home his 26th, John Wensink drives home his 15th and Stan Jonathon scores his 25th goal of the year!! WOW!! Three of our four scorers do battle as well, O’Reilly takes on Maloney, Jonathon brawls with Sittler and Walker and Cashman does battle with Boutette and gets a 2, a 5 and a gross misconduct!! YEA!!! You can’t ask for more! This is an absolute must for Bruins fans!!
1978-79 Regular Season 1/20/79 Montreal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers - Great regular season contest at the storied Montreal Forum. The Flyers and the Canadiens battle back and fourth the entire game until late in the third period. With the goalie pulled the Flyers put an extra attacker on the ice to try and tie the game, with only 38 seconds remaining Bob “The Count” Daily scores the tying goal allowing the Flyers to get out of town with a well deserved 5 to 5 tie. This is an awesome game for any Montreal or Philadelphia fan. This CBC boradcast is very good quality throughout.
1980-81 Regular Season 11/1/80 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Colorado Rockies - One of the few games available with the Colorado Rockies. Lanny MacDonald returns to Toronto for the first time since being traded. A great game ensues as the Rockies battle back from a two goal deficit to take a two goal lead and eventually hang on for a 5 to 4 win. Daryl Sittler scores a pair for the Leafs.
1979 Preliminary Round, Game 2 Buffalo Sabres vs. Pittsburgh Penguins - The Sabres behind strong goaltending from Bob Soave jump out to an early lead and never look back as the Sabres defeat the Penguins 3 to 2 to move onto the next round of the playoffs. This is a rare game featuring the Penguins in their blue uniforms. A must for any Penguins fan. Dave Schultz is playing for the Pens in one of his last professional games.
1979 Preliminary Round, Game 1 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Atlanta Flames - A rare and complete game from the Omni in Atlanta, the Toronto Maple Leafs behind a pair of goals from Walt McKecknie defeat the Flames sending the series back to Toronto with a one game lead. McKecknies’ goals come just shy of 3 minutes apart and take the wind out of the Flames.
1979 Preliminary Round, Game 2 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Atlanta Flames - Game 2 has a little bit of everything, the Leafs set an NHL record that still stands today scoring 3 goals in 23 seconds, 2 by Hall Of Famer Daryl Sittler and the other by Ron Ellis. This game also features an awesome brawl and the Leafs blow out the Flames 7 to 2 to sweep the preliminary round.
