Let Art Lift You Up!

After growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, the rural countryside of South Carolina was a relief from hectic city life. I live in an area surrounded by farms, ranches and forests that is such a contrast to me that the country landscape calls on me to paint it.

I decided that the best way to portray the rural landscape is with an impressionistic technique I learned from Ilona Royce-Smithkin of the PBS shows, 'Ilona's Palette' and 'Painting with Ilona'. My painting style is influenced by Monet and VanGogh, you'll find my style somewhere in between. Lately I've been trying alternate techniques to catch different atmospheric, outer space and weather conditions.

I paint landscapes out of doors or "en plein air" to let me catch the feel of the fresh air and open sky. I find the rich, sumptuous texture of oil paint appealing as a medium because it lets me portray deep shadows as well as the many moods of light and allows different techniques for different images. I want to share nature in its purest form with you; the quiet calm of a seldom traveled dirt road, the serenity of the sunlight shining through the trees or the peacefulness of the night sky.

My goal as an artist is to expose as many people as I can to the beauty, culture, and stress relief found in a good piece of art. I hope my artwork will help you treasure the beauty of nature as I do.
I have original oil paintings, drawings and fine art prints for sale. Please enjoy looking at my art.

You'll find me working in my Hillview Art booth at many SC midlands festivals and markets. I enjoy making bead jewelry which I also sell in my booth. Please sign my guestbook and comment that you'd like to get updates about where I'll be and I'll add you to my newsletter list.

If you're on Facebook, look on my Fan page to see which festivals I'll be attending.
