Hello there !
Welcome to the web-site of HIGHFIELD GRANGE FOOTBALL CLUB.
This site is currently under construction, but pretty soon you will be able see our fixture list, player profiles and comments from people in and around the club.
Speak to you soon football fans and remember, support your grass roots football - whoever your team !
TWO THINGS
1 I am, despite having a good education, a complete dim witted, homosexual, BO emmitting ponce. I have enough trouble writing my own name let alone trying to turn a computer on - so once again a big thank you to our GAZ for creating this website, without him, I would have still been sat at home, wearing my girlfriends underwear and scratching my testicles.
Before we start A BIG THANK YOU must go to
Paul Hilton (Team Manager) - without this guy, we wouldn't be here today, His dedication and commitment is fantastic. All the players want to play and win for him. For most teams, they only think about their manager on the day of the match, this guy is always on your mind because of his enthusiasm and love for the lads. Treats us all like individuals and like his own sons.
NEW TO THE WEBSITE W*£?ER OF THE WEEK (IT WILL BE JUDGED BY WHO PLAYS THE WORST DURING THE GAME)
this weeks winner is SCOTT BEARDSWORTH (Who spent saturday night dragging himself around the living room whilst watching the girls competing on Pop Rivals)
Squad Members
GoalKeepers
Lee Makin (the CAT)- although he may not admit it himself he is the best keeper in this division. He joined us at the beginining of the season and dropped down some divisions TO JOIN OUR REVOLUTION. He is strong, a fantastic goalkeeper and always spreads confidence around the team. A fantastic person to have when things are going wrong and players need picking up. Absolutly Superb.
Stephen Connolly (Horse Head)- Steven is a young keeper only 17 but shows great potential, last season he was our number 1 choice and did fantastic. He will only get better now he has lee to teach him.
Defenders
Andrew Hilton (the Ladies Man) (Mr Consistency)- This player is the most reliable guy in the game of football, and pretty sweet with the ladies. He has great skill and fantastic football ability. Never puts a foot wrong and cant half strike a ball.
Paul Evves (Evsie)- Paul is what you can say a cool customer, does things at his pace and always nice and easy. He is a great defender but what he lacks in speed he makes up with skill. i aint seen a striker beat him for a header yet this season.
Andrew Maiden (the Maidenator)- also nicknamed the pit bull. has come into the side this season and has won his place at left back, unbelievable skill and control on the ball and also has a good understanding with his winger who seem to link up very well.
Paul Elsey (Gudgeon)- paul is a good steady defender who has alot of skill.( to much to be a defender) he has a good touch and can hit a ball when given the opportunity. At the moment he is injured but is always there to give encouragement and support to the team. Paul is also good at badminton and pool, but likes crap music.
Craig (sorry pal, don't know your surname)- Craig joined us at the begining of the season and claimed a spot in the heart of our defence. Good strong defender who can also play midfield if needed.
Phil Kendle (Rambo) - Phil is currently in Viet Nam so is finding it hard to play for use due to other commitments in the jungle. Phil has a great left foot and you can rely on him to do a job.
Midfield
Craig Beardsworth (Bebo One)(He's a bit of an animal) - Although craig is my brother, im not going to be biased but he is hardest working player ive ever seen. As his heart only beats 25 times a minute he doesnt know when to stop or give up. He runs, he tackles and he dictates. The roy keane of ameatuer football but with an under conrolled temper. Absolutly fantastic. He is also a bit of a mentalist and absolutely crap at table tennis as he found out this summer to his embarrasment - also not very good at those machine where you can pick up cuddly toys with a crane.
Scott "gay" Beardsworth (Tunnel Tester)(Sausage Jockey) - Scott plays with himself all the time and often cracks on off during the commercial break on Countdown (OOoooh Richard Whiteley). Scott also plays better when he's been uphill gardening the previous night - says it makes him feel looser.
Nigel Robinson (Perfect Striker of a ball) - Nigel can play right wing or upfront. Played for wigan athletic and joined us this season. He has great skill and can turn any defender inside out. Nigel is also a free kick specialist and the power he can generate behind the ball is frightening. He also nicked my red QPR shirt about 6 months ago and the robbing git hasn't returned it yet!!!!!
Darren Turner (Bullet) - Darren is known as the bullet, he finds his targets and doesnt stop until he gets it. He charges like a bull and hits them like one too. Quite a character. Great lad and I can honestly say that I have never seen anyone put as many drinks away as Darren and still continue to act, talk and behave as though he was drinking lemonade, boys a machine.
Stuart Hand (Stretch Armstrong) - Only young but can tackle and win the ball better than the next person. He is very fast and probably has the longest throw in the south lancs (watch out Andy Legg)
Steven Williams (Twinkle Toes) - joined us this season and now plays right wing. He has now settled in and feels at home. He has quicker feet than michael jackson and can make defenders dizzy. Only 18 and great to watch.
Scott Southall - (Can always do a job anywhere) - Scott is a strong midfielder, He can tackle, pass and can hold the ball up, always plays the easy ball, and although he hasnt won a first team place (YET) he is a person who you have confidence in.
Forwards
Lee Thomas (Give it me) - Lee is a firey forward who always gets stuck in and loves to play. He is fast, quick and can always come up with a goal. Gets frustrated when losing a game showing how passionate he is about the game and the team (but never passes).
John Maiden (Scaffold Boy) - One of the most dedicated players on the team. He is a forward who is strong and can hold the ball up well, always puts 100 % effort into the game and is generally one of the nicest lads on the team.
Lee Taylor (Eagle Boy) - Lee is a basic piss head.(the End) only jokin.lee is a strong forward who is powerful, fast and can score goals, gets the team going with his firey attitude which gives the team motivation. All teams have one of him,He is ours.
Andrew Partington (Maggot) - Andrew can play midfield or forward and always tries to put the effort in, can come up with crucial goals and is a good team member.
CLUB MANAGER- PAUL HILTON
ASSISTANT MANAGER (WHEN AWAKE)- DARREN TEIRNEY
(I'll have a Guinness for breakfast)
SECRETARY- KAREN HILTON
NUMBER 1 FAN- KAREN HILTON.
Last match Sunday 24th November
ASHTON 0 VS 3 HIGHFIELD GRANGE
THis was another top of the table clash and realy a six pointer. We went to ashton not knowing realy what to expect, we have heard they are a good team who are organised and strong. But to be honest the game wasnt one sided like the score line says, it was a well fought game, and although ashton didnt make many chances they are very organised and a good team. In the end highfield were to Quick for the men from ashton, with the defence of highfield as strong as ever it gave the attacking members o the team a good chance to break ashton down. With S.Beardsworth and S. Williams on the wings, ashton could not control them and with the pace of taylor and the GENIUS of robinson up front we had the game under control, goals from Williams and thomas in the second half sealed the game. NOW TO THE FIRST GOAL, ALL HAIL TO NIGEL, with a 30 yard half volly hit like a rocket u only dream of scoring goals like that, Nigel does it week in week out. Once again Lee makin in goal was fantastic, everyone appreciates his for goalkeeping and his presence gets the team going, Stuart hand once again played well with a gritty display, but what can we say about Craig Beardsworth, Craig ur absolutly brilliant.
well played highfield
