The Success of Teen Challenge London
From Featherweight to Teen Challenge Heavyweight
Former boxer and ex-alcoholic David Miller says: "The drug and alcohol treatment success rate at Teen Challenge is very high especially in comparison to secular rehabs. It is known that up to 86% of TC residents who complete the 12 month programme will remain clean from their addiction for up to 5 years later."

CHRISTIAN CONCERN:
EUROPE>
Former Dutch defence minister Eimert van Middelkoop said there was an "anti-Christian mood" in EU institutions. Just as it would be a “mistake” to rely on law alone to promote and advance Christian values, he said it would be a mistake to “count on politics to do more than it can do”. He advocated a “civil” public square where the right for everyone to speak is tempered by a “responsibility” towards everyone else. He warned, however, that Christians in Europe are currently too “ill-prepared” to engage and “persuade” effectively in public life. “We need to educate a citizenry that loves Jesus but also understands the challenges of public life,” he said.
“We’re good at fighting evil but we’re not so good at thinking of constructive ways to address the challenges.” He added: “There is an opportunity to make a breakthrough in thinking that could be a model for the entire world.” Former Dutch defence minister Eimert van Middelkoop spoke of a prevailing “anti-Christian mood” in the European Union. A self-confessed Eurosceptic, van Middelkoop said the European project had failed to win the hearts and minds of the people, and that it had made the mistake of treating people as “economic things”. He said there was a need to “reorganise” society across Europe according to core Christian values.
Continuing on from this, Christian Concern’s Andrea Minichiello Williams said there was a need for Christians to work together on a framework to safeguard Christian values at the European level. She warned that a “tyrannical absolutism” had come to characterise public life and that Christian views were struggling to be heard in public discourse. Mrs Williams said it was not enough for Christians to advocate values but that their Christian basis must be made clear.

Christians in the US will be taking the power of prayer straight to the heart of Hollywood this March. TheCRY Hollywood is taking place on March 15 at the Gibson Ampitheatre close to Universal Studios. Director and organiser Faytene Grasseschi is keen to stress it is not a concert or conference but a time to ask God to move in one of the biggest global influencers today. “This is a cry for God to move with His love and power in entertainment media in a way that will impact the masses,” she says. According to Grasseschi, the average American spends less than 28 hours a year in church but around six hours a day engaging in some kind of media.
A recent Nelson study found that there are more TVs in America than human beings, while according to the Kaiser Family Foundation the average child will have watched 4,000 hours of TV before reaching Kindergarten age.
If media were only exposing people to positive values that might not be so bad, but if stats from the National Institute on Media and Family are anything to go by, prayer for Hollywood is greatly needed. It recently found that the average 18-year-old in America will have viewed 16,000 simulated murders and 200,000 acts of violence through media during their lifetime. Despite some clear causes for concern, Grasseschi stresses that TheCRY Hollywood is not about condemning, but about blessing and influencing for the better.
