ADOPTION APPLICATION
We retain the right to deny an application for any reason that we see fit. Filling out this application does not ensure that you will be able to adopt the animal.
PLEASE READ BEFORE FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION OR EMAILING US!! For each of our rescue angels, we require a non-refundable adoption donation to help defer the medical costs and more associated with the pet. The adoption donations typically run between $150 to $250, but special circumstances with each pet may cause a deviation from those amounts. The minimum adoption fee for any pet is $150. All dogs have 5-way DHLPP vaccinations, bordatella vaccination, neutering/spaying, one-year rabies vaccination (unless they are too young), three doses of worming medication, heartworm test for adult dogs, flea and heartworm prevention, and in most cases a professional grooming.
Adopting a dog starts with filling out an adoption application. References are checked, and a home visit is done. We will respond to all applications within 24 hours of receipt. You may NOT meet one of our rescue dogs without first having an approved application. Adopters must sign an adoption contract before taking home a pet. Please note- we do NOT adopt our rescues to homes that have unaltered (unspayed or unneutered) pets, pets not up to date on heartworm prevention and vaccines, dogs kept penned or tied outside, or plans to keep the rescue pet outdoors. This information is verified through a home visit and reference check. We do NOT operate on a first come, first served basis. We pick the best home from the applications that we receive for each pet. We reserve the right to deny an application for any reason we see fit. You MUST be 21 years of age to adopt. We do not adopt to “roommate” situations. The majority of our dogs will not be adopted to homes with small children for the safety of the animal and the children- although it is case by case with each dog. Please understand that we have a process in place for the safety of the animals, and the foster parents since we do not have a shelter facility. These animals have usually come from a traumatic or neglectful situation and it is our responsibility to make sure that never happens to them again.
Finally, if you choose to adopt and you are approved, you have through the following weekend to pick up your new family member. We are unable to hold animals for any reason. Doing so hinders our ability to help other animals in need. We try when we can to assist with transporting rescues to their new families but expect the families to help with the MAJORITY of the transport. We do adopt out-of-state in most cases; however, the primary responsibility of the transport is the adopters. If, for any reason, you cannot keep your rescued pet, he or she must be returned to us.

I understand that the previous history and/or heritage of any particular dog may be unknown prior to them being accepted into foster care.

I understand that Heaven Can Wait, Inc. is not responsible for ANY medical or veterinary bills after adoption. However, Heaven Can Wait, Inc. will accept a return of the pet if the adopter cannot afford any medical treatment the animal needs.
All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on heartworm and flea prevention before leaving our care. A non-refundable adoption donation of $150-$250 for this pet helps to alleviate the costs of their care and allows us to continue to help dogs in need.
