JIM JORDAN MUSICAL BIOGRAPHY
~see guestbook at bottom of page~
"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything."
-- Plato
A native of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Jim Jordan has been playing harmonica professionally in the Boston area for over twenty years. Jim’s playing style has been influenced by such harp legends as Little Walter, James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite and Paul Butterfield. Jim’s playing, described in the Boston Phoenix as “soulful”, is powerful, true to blues, his tone distinguished.
Jim’s first professional musical endeavor was with blues singing legend George Leh. With George, Jim performed all over New England including multiple appearances at The Boston Blues Society’s annual “Battle of the Blues Bands”. He then joined “The West End Blues Band” for several years and opened shows for blues legends Son Seals and James Montgomery. Jim then played an eclectic mix of blues, jazz and rock with “Cathouse” and “Out of the Blue”, bands he cofounded and artistically influenced. Jim also was a member of “D and the Heavyweights”, with vocalist Darnell Clark. The band headlined at Club BB King in Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Connecticut.
Jim Jordan is steadfastly committed to playing blues harmonica with integrity, power and soul. Jim continues to pay homage to the legends who came before him through his imaginative playing, propelled forward by the quest to continue in the mastery of this seemly easy yet very complex and expressive instrument.
Face Magazine's review of George Leh's album, "Danger Zone" notes:
"Rockin’ George leaves the heavy lifting to boogie-woogie pianist Harry King, (outstanding on “Danger Zone,” a blues cut that will move ya’) and swampy harpist James Jordan (outstanding on just about everything else.)"

What's New?
Jim played a great show at Sculler's Jazz Club with several of New England's finest musicians from Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets, The Duke Roblliard band, Room Full of Blues and Sugar Ray Norcia, including Steve Silver, guitar; Doug James, tenor and baritone sax; Carl Querfurth, trombone; Matthew McCabe, piano; John Ross, bass; and Mark Texteira, drums. Sugar Ray and the Bluestones played two wonderful sets of music also. Congratulations to Steve on his wedding anniversary and putting together such a gifted lineup of musicians.
