Ham Radio in Western South Dakota
South Dakota is a really great state for ham radio. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself, call sign(KC0CCB). I am 29 years old and have been in the hobby for 12 years now. I hold a Technican Class License and my favorite mode is FM. Currently I run on the 2 meter and the 70 centimeter ham bands. The antenna system is a 30 foot mast with a 13 element 2 meter beam and also a discone scanner antenna. The radio that I use for a home base radio is a Kenwood Dual Bander V7A. I also have a couple of 2 meter radios one is a Radio Shack HTX-252 mobile and I also have a Yaesu VX-7R and a tri-bander Yaesu VX-5R. I also have a couple of police scanners. Some of the other things I like to do with the hobby is use FM Repeaters and listen to the NASA space shuttle. Also, I have a Packet Radio station set up at my house. I use a Kenwood TMV7A for the packet station! I have a PRO-2042 1000 channel scanner that is used for listening out of band signals like:FM broadcast,CB Radio and satellites. Someday in the near future I would like to put a repeater up on Terry Peak and link it to the one in Bowman North Dakota. Then all of western South Dakota can check into the Superlink Net that is on the Bowman Repeater every Sunday Night starting at around 8:15 P.M. My favorite singers are Shania Twain,Shakira,Jennifer Lopez!!! If anybody is interested in getting their Ham Radio License feel free to send me an email if you have any questions!! My Packet Mailbox is as follows: KC0CCB-3!! My discone antenna is going to be at 50 feet and my yagi antenna is going to be at 45 feet!! I should be able to hit Gillette,Phillip,Murdo at times!! I bought a 30 foot antena tower from Andy (N0VVT) for about 150 bucks!! Which is a really good price!! The brand name of my tower is a Rohn 25G!! This tower usually goes for about 400 bucks!!
